[TOOL] Convert old voice mods to work with 0.6.13+ and 0.8.8+

Upon request, I've updated the tool to support 0.8.8. So far, it will only work with voice mods.

You can download it here:

modxmlgenerator-0.8.8.zip

(MediaFire mirror) http://www.mediafire.com/file/yl748kx1bnv6tjd/modxmlgenerator-0.8.8.zip/file

This is a little tool that I put together to automatically generate a mod.xml for my old voiceover mods to work with 0.6.13 and later (until WG decides to change VO and SFX mods again). I figured I should release it for others to use after cleaning up the code a bit. Feel free to make your own modifications or improve upon it.

For an officially supported program by WG, check out MrConway's post on the EU forums

https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/91436-old-sound-mod-converter/

Instructions:

(If you're starting from a post-0.6.13 mod that has a mod.xml, skip to step 4)

1. Run modxmlgenerator.exe

2. Type or paste the path to your old voice mod that contains the "Voice" folder.

3. The mod.xml will be generated at that same folder.

4. Run modxmlupdater.exe

5. Type or paste the path to your old voice mod that contains mod.xml.

6. Install the mod as if 0.8.8 0.6.13 never happened.

Replace 0.6.13.0 with the current game version.

Things to note:

This tool will (hopefully) work for all voice and sound effect mods from 0.6.6 to 0.6.12.1. I haven't tested mods with PVE voices yet, so I can't guarantee that those lines will work (fixed in 0.6.13.1). I do know for sure that mp3 voice mods are not currently working as of 0.6.13. Perhaps 0.6.13.1 will fix this. MP3 files still do not play in 0.6.13.1. You'll need to convert to .wem until WG implements MP3 support again.

Make sure res\banks does not contain the folders Languages and OfficialMods. Having any of these folders will remove the ability to select VO mods, even official ones like Seagal. Thanks to hakabase and Aessaya for bringing this to my attention.

UPDATE 6/12/18:

 - Added support for the Loop folder

UPDATE 9/20/2019:

 - Added another executable "modxmlupdater.exe" which will update an old mod.xml to be compliant with 0.8.8+. Make sure you first run modxmlgenerator to generate a mod.xml file, then modxmlupdater to convert to 0.8.8+ format.

UPDATE 9/22/2019:

 - Fixed domination status lines

help

What am I doing wrong?

That's weird. It would help a lot if you could tell me what the directory is, so I can find out what the problem is.

C:\Users\User\Desktop\WoWs Mods\Voices\Sendai\Sendai\Sendai\Voice\UI_Defective_Modules

I went down into a random line just in case. I don't think moving the folder into the res_mods folder would work since I recently cleared my mods and therefore there is no "banks" folder that voice mods are usually located in. Still, if you could tell me the folders that voice mods are found in (???--->banks-->???) creating those and moving the voice mods in there might work.

Try using "C:\Users\User\Desktop\WoWs Mods\Voices\Sendai\Sendai\Sendai" without the quotes.

Didn't work.

I'm going to download some other voice mods and see if it's a problem with your program or if it's just that particular mod.

(EDIT)

It seems like some other mods worked so I think it's probably just that voice mod being too old or something.

(EDIT 2)

I figured out the problem. The conversion only works if the xml generator and the voice mod are in the same folder. Although if you could tell me the folders I need to create in the World of Warships folder to enable voice mods that would be great.

Thanks!

To add voice mods to the client, make the folders ...\res_mods\0.6.13.0\banks and ...\res_mods\0.6.13.0\banks\Mods. Then copy the voice mods to Mods.

If someone couldn't select voice mod in game, please refer to Aessaya's solution. (edit: Just in case that you already got mod.xml and also put it in correct folder, but you still can't find mod name shows up in game setting.)

I knew you are talking about the modified mod, it works for me. I'm telling other players, If they keep those two empty folders there, the mod's name won't appear in game setting, even they drop the modified files at correct position.

Updated to accommodate SFX mods and mixed sound mods. Hopefully, I didn't break anything.

Gun sound mods don't work with WG's converter, but I'm pretty sure they will release one that's compatible soon.

Never mind, just tested it and it seems to do fine. Not too sure what the user complaining about gun sound compatibility was on about. Seems like a good tool to use.

Is the procedure any different? Will the XML file look the same?

These procedure is exactly the same, except now you can point to a folder that contains a Voice folder, a SFX folder, or both. There shouldn't be any difference in the XML file in terms of functionality.

Updated to work with 0.8.8 for voice mods only. Sound effect mods are a lot trickier to update for 0.8.8.

I really thank you for your efforts,KinoMyu.
But I found a bug in your tool.
The "Domination_Status" voices (Ally advantage/Enemy advantage..etc.)doesn't work well.

Can you fix them plz?

Thanks for pointing that out. I just updated the tool, so it should work now. Did a little too much copying and pasting.
