Why does the game take up so much space

When I first played WoWs last year, it only took up 10-20GBs, now when I reinstall the game, it says 43 Gb and both options(high and ultra, where's normal?) take up the same amount of space. Why does the game take up this amount of space anyway? World of Tanks took up less space, to begin with.

Graphical updates, and of course, more ships and its models. Don't forget about maps too. They have received some minor changes on looks as well. This game is pretty large, but I don't mind because it looks very, very nice.

Well compared to World Of Tanks, World Of Warships has a lot more to process, render and display. As said by Rhyno, new ships, (Rip Kutuzov), much large maps compared to tanks, music tracks, graphics and many more. Not to mention when it comes to rendering ocean waves and its effect on ships it tends to be rather demanding on a PC especially on ultra.

Wargaming made a video on Graphics and what they do a while back, Link here:

Its a bit outdated but it gets to point across.

I hope I helped you out here~ Cheers!

If you haven't already, you can delete all the update downloads in the Updates folder.

Even then, the game is still pretty large though; mine's at 30GB and change.

^^ This; While counter-intuitive the saved downloads are unnecessary to the game and even the ''smaller'' 800-1000 MB patches add up over time - plus, doing a defrag/optimize afterwards seems to help as well.

you have an update issue.

Most likely the updater did not remove the files with extension ".killme" in the res or res_packages folder

Delete those and do and intergrity check

yeah, wows should only be around 28GB, even with ultra added in.

restarting WGC or deleting those .killme files should reduce WoWs' size to 28GB
