Decide then if you still want one. It's a good ship and can be fun, but if you can't make a Kirov work against T7s you're not going to make a Molotov work vs T8s. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. While very squishy and about as agile as a bathtub, she is fast and has great guns for her tier. Yes, you will be uptiered a lot. But she is a great support ship even in those cases and can be a real thorn in the side of the red team, more so as the game progresses, in my opinion. I do not recommend getting close to the enemy. And I advise making use of cover any time it is available. But if you can enjoy a game firing from the edges of your firing range, and if you like accurate guns that can hammer red DDs that wander into range and are spotted, I think she is worth the investment. Lert has made a great suggestion, I think. If you can enjoy the Kirov, you can probably enjoy the Molotov. They play (in my own experience) pretty similarly. My stats are not great (slightly above server average), but I have a great time playing the ship. I admit, the Molotov is something of an acquired taste because it is fragile and turns like a dump truck, but the guns are terrific. It is definitely a long range sniper as the flat-shooting guns make hitting targets easy. If that is a style that you like, then you will like the Molotov. Just a warning that cyclones will make the Molotov completely useless as you will lose your greatest strength and bumping into a BB at 8km is a death sentence. ST, ship stats changes Changes implemented to make the gameplay more comfortable: - T-22: main battery base firing range decreased to 9,1 km, detectability from planes decreased to 2,6 km, detectability from ships decreased to 6.5 km- Podvoisky: reload time for the main battery decreased to 8,1 seconds- Kirov: reload time for the main turret decreased to 13.5 seconds, initial shell velocity increased to 920 m/s - Krasny Krym: main turret reload time is decreased to 8,1 seconds - Nicholas: aiming angles increased for torpedo launchers, third turret on Hull B and fourth turret on Hull C when firing forward. 663 [WAMMY] sasquatch_research Members 2,814 posts 17,629 battles Report post #13 Posted December 23, 2017 Hey My wife got the Molotov in a Santa box this year and I tried it out, was pleasantly surprised, 2 games were not great at mid-20K range (one Notser island move didn't help) but the 3rd game was one of 84207 damage, top of a losing team, only 1 kill but 3 torps on a broadside Colorado helped, bunch of fires on the other Scharnhorst I was up against. But if MM shafts her with Tier VII-VIII matches, she struggles. Most especially with lots of Tier VIIIs. Cruisers jump in power in Tier VII. Battleships are gonna Battleship, and the Tier VIII ones take considerable jumps in all aspects compared to the VII BBs. It is not fun being Molotov when you see a lot of accurate shooting Amagis. Before the MM changes a while back, Molotov was absolutely OP. Why? The old MM range was +/-3 tiers and MM protection was only for the absolute lowest tiers and Tier X (X? You are always top tier LOL). This means Molotov's 180mm guns were crushing ships like Phoenix, Kuma. It was a slaughter. Molotov was the poster child of OP Russian Bias threads. But after the MM changes, nobody talks about Molotov anymore. All cries calling for a nerf on her have completely disappeared. She gets smacked around now just like any other Cruiser her tier. It was the first real tier where the ships started getting better compared to Tier IV-V. The old MM, as said before, didn't really have MM protection like it does now. +/-3. Tier VI Cleveland, Molotov against Kuma, Omaha. Aoba was considered a solid Cruiser. New Mexico was well loved. Fuso against Wyoming. Think about that. Sure, Tier VI still payed the price by occasionally seeing as high as Tier IX, but unlike today, more tiers had a chance to exercise superiority while still having to pay the piper somewhere along the line. I think it would be a lot more fair and make the game better overall. It just doesn't make sense to have T6 ships in T8 or even T7 in with T9's. You hear a lot of complaining about being up-tiered. The guns are amazing. They hit hard and start fires like crazy. Sure she is fragile, but she's a light cruiser, okay she might be a little more fragile than the Nurnberg, but not by a lot. When you take hits it will hurt a bit more. But nothing unexpected after playing Konigsberg and Nurnberg. The larger turning radius has gotten me into trouble when I stuck my nose out more than I intended and got wrecked. Overall, so far I am really liking it. I was in a T8 game with it last night and thought I wouldn't last 5 minutes but wound up with about 55K damage and survived the entire game (a loss) but still felt good about it. In the future, something for my Donskoi captain to do when not Donskoiing. I had one of the spotter plane special mods and threw that on, figuring it is a waste to have Donskoi guns and artificially limited 15.5 km range. My, though, it does turn like a brick. A really, really soft brick. She is really squishy in PvE play since the battles always end up in your face, kind of like the Nelson IMHO. They both do better in PvP play where there is more finesse and people hold back a bit more than bots charging towards you like idiots. As long as your careful and work the edges and pick your target, she can be very good and very damaging to the enemy. Good boat, a bit fragile, but then most cruisers can be. Lots of fun. P.S.
