Free XP

Want Y'alls opinion. I have about 1.1mil XP on ships that is convertible, is it worth purchasing doubloons to convert at least some of this free xp?

Only if you really want to use the xp to move past stock modules/ move past entire ships the kinda suck.

 

Otherwise I typically farm free xp on special events that give out 100%/200% xp bonuses to first wins by loading ships up with free xp and xp flags. One 200% weekend I farmed some 300k in free xp.

I did that, quite like the MO tho so I thought it was worth it. Used my free xp to get the Moskava with having to play the tier 9 so I could get it in CWs.

Only if you are grinding to something. I still have 8 grinds going so I do convert my free exp. & when new tech lines come out there's always those grinds to come, as well.

All good points, unfortunately I don't have $200 just laying around, I just didn't realize I had so much convertible xp

If you plan on doing the conversion, wait until the special bonus doubloon sales where they give you 15% extra doubloons on a 25k purchase, and then convert your XP when they have one of the bonus XP conversion weekend (1 doubloon = 35 Free XP versus the normal 25).

Hey Panic - Elite XP is a way WG dangles the carrot in front of us to either use the doubloon conversion to get ships like the Missouri sooner or bypass non-favorites like the Izumo.   If you keep playing the game (hopefully you will) - you’ll collect 10million Elite XP on your ships easily!

 

One thing I wish were possible, is if WG would let us use Elite XP for things like respec-ing Commanders (I.e. in-game activities that allow you to pay for things either w/ doubloons/silver/Free commander’s XP - don’t think this will happen tho....

I wouldn't get into the habit of converting all of your elite XP. You'll soon be thousands of $$$ in the hole without even realizing it.

I have something like 30m elite XP and have no intention of ever converting more than a fraction of it.

Honestly, WG letting us collect Elite Capt XP on 19pt Captains is pretty cool of them.  They aren't all bad

I would not consider it at the standard 25:1 rate.

I did convert some in the special 35:1 days. They will come back at some point.

Warped - agree -love the Elite Commander’s XP concept now in-game.   My comment is only that once your ship gains Elite  (ship) XP, most of this just sits there unless you want to spend doubloons for FreeXP purchases for the purposes previously outlined.

 

WG, as a business, is better served not letting us pay for things w/ Elite XP since the conversion model is a non-trivial part of their micro-transaction model - this was meant to be an analysis, not a complaint.

Warped, I sure agree with this.  I use my Fletcher a lot with it's 19 point captain and I put all the extra free xp flags that I have on it since that captain's xp can be used on any captain I want or to reset captain's skills.....it's great imo.

Keep t for now? Unless you have something you want to get upgrades for, or a ship you want, (Nelson, Missouri,) then just hang on to it. If many is just burning a holee n your pocket; thenget some doubloons, and just save them too. Never know when you might need a few.

7,982,295 shp, it would cost 319, 291 doubloons to convert, which is 'I have no idea' in terms of real money to convert.

 

Admittedly; most of that is tied up in lower and mid-tier ships because I stopped going up the tech trees and never spent it on higher-tier ships, (I currently only have 3 tier 10s.)

You will end up with millions of convertible xp on ships eventually. If you decide to convert some, wait until they have a sale on conversion where you get 35 free xp for 1 doubloon. You can make it cheaper buy buying doubloons on sale.. Honestly I would just forget about all the convertible xp on ships, so much accumulates over time that it becomes cost prohibitive for most players to mess with.
