Recently, I had a "unicum" on my team who got 6 kills in a Fiji. I looked up his stats to see if I could find out what he was doing that I wasn't. What I found was that his hits to shots ratio was much higher than mine. Even though I'm somewhat "experienced" at this game, I still can't seem to land more than 25-30% of my shots on the enemy.

Fiji is a beast at close range :)

What I like to do is to wait with firing my guns (BB/CA) till someone turns. That makes it real easy to land your shots. This is when I use AP, because waiting pays off for the damage you deal when you do multiple citadel hits. With HE I just spam away.

It is a bit difficult to explain, but often it is clear whether someone is going to make the turn or not :)

A hard one to answer.

What I see far too often are my accurate shots missing so much or having low # of hits with accurate volleys (maybe this is saying the same thing).

Like you, Snarg, I consider myself somewhat 'experienced'. Very odd to see so many players on the enemy team getting high amounts of hits even when end on to them.

The only conclusion can be that this 'unicum' you speak of is extremely good at aiming (maybe, yet even unicums should get bad targeting resolutions sometimes).

OR there are two alternate explanations;

 This 'unicum' is using some kind of illegal hack (not yet known about) and/or this 'unicum' is getting preferential treatment by WG.

Or a "legal" one. There are several mods that seem to provide for enhance aiming systems. But there is at least one aimbot that I've seen advertized for sale too.

However, some people don't just shoot at anything either but wait until they can get the best shot that will result in the most damage. Watching videos on YouTube, I notice that the "unicums" oftentimes pass up shots that I would take in hopes of getting at least some damage and the one's that they do take oftentimes result in citadel penetrations. I guess it's like the guy out deer hinting who lets the does and spike bucks pass by in hopes of getting a shot at a trophy buck.

There's also something, OP, called the MM that makes one 'unlucky again' whether one is bad, indifferent or good.

...cause the MM is not random, not even close to being random.

I prefer to look at the damage stat vice the accuracy stat.  Although the latter usually correlates with the former, this is not always true.  A less accurate player who fires three times more often than a more accurate player will (all else being equal) do more damage with a 35% hit rate than the more accurate player will with a 100% hit rate.

The problem is, aim assists are really no more effective than a torpedo sight guide.  If you are trying to shoot at a target 15km away, and the aimbot tells you to aim for a particular spot, it will only ever be effective if the ship targeted does not change its trajectory.  As soon as it changes course, your aim assist can do nothing more to help you out.  Pretty much the exact same concept as firing and dodging torpedoes.

Most average to above-average players have a good sense of how to aim by nature and experience.  There are also dozens of different (and allowed) aiming recticles available to help you aim at angles targets too.  So at the end of the day you need an aim assist to help you out, you're either a inexperienced player or just a complete potato.

The main difference is decision making and Main battery hit %.  I have a high hit ratio for almost all of my ships, but I tend to be way overaggressive and die early.  I tend to do a lot of damage while alive, but my survival rate is sub-par.
