Huh. They finally pushed one of the many let's-rebuild-the-Titanic from the planning phase into the actual production phase. Nice.

If you're going to all this trouble, why not build it as an actual ocean liner?  Can you imagine how many cruise ship folks would pay extra to sail on the modern Titanic?

If you were going to take a ride on a replica Titanic it better be restricted to warm equatorial waters and try to avoid cursed triangles if possible.

Well obviously it couldn't be an exact replica.  But the machinery would be modern and more compact, so you could make living spaces larger or whatever else needs to be done.  I just think it'd be a larger draw than a static full-size replica.

Doesn't look like it will ever get underway though.  I doubt very much they're going to get it in that River.  Looks like it's only going to be a stationary exhibit.

I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't look it'll be launched to me from the pictures. Just a glorified casino.

So they decided to build a floating resort with historical connotations instead of a regular hotel/casino setup; wonder what they'll do when her basement starts rusting?

Yes, who wouldn't want to spend a lot to live a boat with 1910's technology for a few weeks.

Spoiler

If they actual did this, it probably wouldn't have 1910's technology. People nowadays will die without the internet.

No, but I think the ship simulate sinking like it's a ride or something.

I'd love to sail on a recreated Titanic.  I'm irritated with how modern Cruise Ships are these cumbersome floating malls, they've got no class.

The remake will not sail on any ocean, but will be permanently docked in a reservoir in Sichuan's rural Daying county.

Boring.

But still kinda neat: if the interior is modeled after the original interior, that'll still be something to see.

EDIT: I dunno why it would or wouldn't be, but is the Titanic as well-known in China as it is in the western world?
