So for compensation for her one torpedo launcher she gets heal, interesting.

On gm3d it currently has its own slot. So you can have smoke and repair and (speed boost or dfaa).

Nerfed Fletcher -1 torpedo launcher.  And torpedoes are Fletcher's best attribute.

I will disagree. Fletcher can be built as an awesome gunboat with good torpedoes or a torpedoboat with good guns, and its up to you as the player to decide which you want. 
This just narrows your options to more of the former than the latter

Not sure a 2.8k heal is enough to make the kidd viable. It's still got US guns so floaty arcs which means it really can't gunfight at range and since they're single gun mounts you've got to show alot of side to get all 5 in play.

From last test phase, she had one set of Benson torps.

I still don't understand why this is complicated. 

 

Give her Fletcher torpedoes, with a lower reload (65), provide her with the tier 9 upgrade slot. 

 

Problem solved , no repair party needed.

Thanks, though that's very unfortunate news. I suspect that she's still going to be really underpowered for a Tier VIII.

US DD gunboating is highly situational at higher tiers, with all the radar and hydro around.  Opening up at the wrong time is a surefire way to lose half your life in a big hurry.  I made the mistake of configuring my Gearing entirely for guns and my stats were much less than my Fletcher's.  Switched to a torp build and things improved.

 

From my perspective losing half your torpedo potential is not going to be made up for by a heal, not by a long shot.  And when you think about it, going from 2 launchers to 1 is LESS than half as effective.  With 2+ launchers, you can hedge your bets, fire the first launcher at the ship and the second launcher at where you think the ship will turn to avoid the first volley.  Can't do that with one.

I've been on the Kidd.  The tour guide at the time was a nice old guy named Leroy Jenkins.  He didn't know why I wanted my picture with him, but was happy about it, so we were all good.

 

I would totally buy a Kidd if they sold it for that reason alone!

 

While I was there they fired one of the 5" guns.  It set off car alarms for a half mile in every direction.  LOL

Honestly, being able to use USN Smoke AND Repair Party, while having amazing AA for it's tier more than makes up for it's missing torpedoes if you ask me. This change has turned Kidd from 'meh' to 'must buy' IMO.

The only way I can see it working is with Benson torps on a ridiculous low reload. 

 

Right now the thing that is most annoying, is that the Kidd has the exact same reload as the Benson, with 50% less torpedoes.. lol!

Heal on a DD is a bit...weird really...not sure how I feel about that... I mean, I guess its not as bad as having smoke and radar/hydro but still...a bit gimmicky really...

 

She is still a ship I REALLY want though. Gotta have me my USN DDs <3

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that they're still working on the Kidd, and I'll buy her regardless, but having half of the Benson's firepower at the same tier isn't worth the minor defensive bonuses of increased AA and a heal. Honestly, heal isn't that compelling on a DD. It's frustrating that they haven't tried one rack of Fletcher torps with a slightly reduced reload, and Defensive AA in the third consumable slot. That version would have a niche, and potentially stand up compared to its peers at Tier VIII while offering something distinct. This new incarnation smacks of trying to bail out a flawed concept with a dodgy gimmick.

It's not even a huge heal.  2,324.  That's 1-2 volleys from a destroyer or 1-2 shells from anything bigger to knock that back off.

Just because you don’t see anything said on NA dosnt mean it hasn’t been talked about.

It was said in a EU Q&A 

Kidd: Was eventually planned for an event that got cancelled, currently she’s sitting in forever alone port. She’ll receive balancing in the future and then maybe received.
