Would anyone be interested in making silver cast models of warships like the Fletcher to put on a necklace or a bracelet?  Thought it'd be a cute idea.

Like say, an inch long.

Fletcher necklace...

does it consist of 175 individually named chains?

It will be if there is any kind of detailing; casting is NOT a cheap process. (well, casting itself isn't bad; design is a real pain)

If it's going to be recognizably a Fletcher, there will have to be a measure of fine detailing, not to mention of size in order to allow for the detailing and shapes to make it recognizably a Fletcher in an object that will be subject to wear that's made of a relatively soft metal.

That'd be a nice touch and historical nod.

This one for enthusiasts of all USN ships discarded after service: a piece of the actual ship!

i like this idea, my college has a water jet that could do this easily, just have to draw up the silhouette of the Fletcher and off you go

Hey she is living on. The third Gerald Ford-class is going to be the new Enterprise. She is using metal recycled from both CVN-65 and CV(N)-6.

It would be fun to have a 3D model though. Round hull. I guess that’s a lot harder. Machine printed?

A loop on the smoke stack for connecting to the chain?

:Smile_great:Not to mention resting against the skin(depending on the metal Say Copper,Silver) you have to be careful on that as well some people are sensitive to those metals in which case they'd have to use pretty pure gold and thats expensive all in and of itself:Smile_hiding:

ARISE, THREAD LONG DEAD!!! ARISE!!!!!!!!!

If you're gonna make some jewelry en-masse, you're gonna need to make a reusable mold for whatever you're making, plus a furnace and raw metals. This isn't going to be a small undertaking
