607 Ghostdog1355 Members 2,857 posts 9,224 battles Report post #3 Posted October 16, 2017 It used to bother me also. Most of the time it's by players who are doing bad themselves and want to spread the blame. I have been guilty of mistakes, shooting team mates, running into islands, etc. as we all have. Some just take this game way too serious.

Seriously, though, most of the time this happens, it is because the people complaining decided to do something on their own and assumed their strategy was so brilliant that the entire team would naturally follow them even without needing to get a consensus. When the "plan" ultimately fails to its own stupidity, naturally, they blame you even when you tried to support them while holding an abandoned front yourself. 1,045 dmckay Members 4,729 posts 8,265 battles Report post #7 Posted October 16, 2017 I get hated sometimes. If I am dead I can sit and see what is going down. I may say "hey guys that DD is going to cap and no one is back to stop him!". Careful trying to help if you are dead. You will often get back stuff like, "says the dead man shut up". You may have killed 3 ships and made a major contribution but be careful what you suggest if you are dead. Some just don't want to hear from you even if you are trying to help. Also if you are just yakking it can indeed be distracting to those still alive.

Whenever I get a compliment in chat, I take it as an insult, as sarcasm. I'm not difficult to please, no really.. But this is why CV players need a safe, sound proof room, foam filled with punchbags where they can go and vent.

Its those little things that make me smile.
722 StoneRhino Members 3,256 posts 4,322 battles Report post #12 Posted October 16, 2017 I have found I get very little hate when playing cvs.i don't count deserved criticism as hate. I think it is because I talk a lot in chat. Simple stuff like "scouting A-B bombers to A", "rearming fighters" and "Got your back DD".

I appreciate your fighters. I think you may be one of a few CV drivers that has got some karma from me. I've no problem with you. If I had to have a CV driver on my team, it is better to have smeone who looks after the rest of the team as one who is out to rack up kills before getting creamed all alone, by the red team. I think CVs get more salt from their teammates because they have an outsized effect on the course of the game, and if you have a bad one, or a good one who has a bad matchup, your team loses for reasons they can't control. It's like dropping with only one DD vs two for the reds and losing that one DD in the first 2 minutes. That game isn't going to go well. If I put forth my own column of salt at times, I recognize that I personally do not have the skill to play my CVs in PvP. I will not doom my team because I have not developed the skill required. Anyway, sail on, biscuit! Edited October 16, 2017 by LancerUlysses
1,260 cometguy Members 2,992 posts 5,204 battles Report post #14 Posted October 16, 2017 Another example of why there's no point in letting chat hate get to you when you're in a CV. So few players have any idea of what's going on in the skies above them, or how CVs work. Last week I torped a destroyer that was maneuvering in smoke, and sank it. Their captain then says in chat "congratulations on clicking my ship CV". Guy thought he was auto dropped.
862 [LHG] BB3_Oregon_Steel [LHG] Members 2,225 posts 6,440 battles Report post #15 Posted October 16, 2017 (edited) Well idiotic players are not limited to those that dislike carrier drivers. I was in a Kongo in a close match and I was in the enemy cap with two red battleships to my front, one was of the starboard front quarter and one was in a similar position to port. There's a "friendly" Duguay-Trouin behind me on my port rear quarter. So I finish off the battleship to starboard and begin to swing my battleship to port in order to unmask my guns to deal with the other battleship and, you guessed it, the Duguay-Trouin launches a full spread of torpedoes which I catch fully on the starboard side with an earth shattering KABOOM!!! Ok, bad stuff happens sometimes but then he and his division mates go after me for being such a stupid Noob for ruining the DT's torpedo shot. I was less that perfectly pleased and expressed my displeasure (I may have said something like "you worthless piece of @%$^%^$%, what kind of !@@#%!$! idiots are you anyway. SHOOT THE $%!^@$^@ RED SHIPS"). I have, on rare occasions, encountered a player who was upset at me after he'd torped my ship to the bottom but that was the first time I've had a group of morons do so at the same time. Btw, as a public service announcement, if you end up torping a friendly ship, IT IS ALWAYS YOUR FAULT. Friendly ships have enough to do contending with the red ships in front of them to look over their shoulder to see if any friendly ships are sending torpedoes their way. 15 [BSAS] Shambul Members 47 posts 21,832 battles Report post #17 Posted October 16, 2017 Yes this is why I have been talking to wargaming about removing the karma crap from game. Nothing like going into a cap at start of battle with dd getting spotted then hit with radar. 20 secs later you are dead and you get 5 reports for poor play for going into the cap they wanted but didn't come with you to back you up. 23 [TWBNS] SaltyMoonshine Members 48 posts 5,046 battles Report post #24 Posted October 19, 2017 That's the way it is for us CV players. If we do our job successfully, then no one knows we've done anything at all. Hoping for a thanks? Pfft, no. If we don't do our job successfully, or we get out-played by the enemy CV, then the bad performance of the entire team is entirely our fault. You see, there is a voiciferous segment of the player base that believes the CV occupies this elevated and genteel position, and that enemy ships simply disappear upon our whim and enemy bombers cease to exist at our slightest desire. Therefore if they get torpedo bombed to death, we are clearly foolish and stupid individuals for not simply willing it to be otherwise. Don't expect anything from these types of players, other than blaming everyone else for their failures.
804 Wowzery Members 4,608 posts Report post #25 Posted October 19, 2017 I generally don't say anything in chat, or even look at it really. But the last time I did it to a CV player, he had a CV with AS package and kept his fighters over his carrier while the rest of the team was getting slaughtered. His defense was the opposing CV player always went to him first. He said that as i sank to an enemy torp squadron. The enemy CV player sank 3 or 4 ships, was their top player while ours was at the bottom. Otherwise I don't find it worthy of my time to do such things.
