Did WG up the rate of weather into the game??  For me, its 2-3x more often recently than it was last patch.

If you mean weather effects at the start of battle, that have no effect on gameplay, then yes, they upped that last year.

As for actual Squall effects that reduce visibility, they actually reduced the number of instances and the maps.

Yeah I am referring to squall effects - so that is really odd then that they reduced the instances.  Perhaps its just bad luck then on my part.

Probably just some bad luck.

Yeah, probably bad luck..  I see one every 20-30 games these days.

A lot of players complained about them, so the reduced the number of occurrences. Just like Bastion mode, and the Ocean map.

I tell my wife to expect up to 4 inches overnight.

Just kidding, I'm a quarter Italian.

I also seem to notice it happening more often but likely bad luck. I don't mind cyclones, my issue with them is that they last way too long. I'd prefer they cut the duration by 1/3 or even 1/2.

I see them about 50% of my battles, a massive increase from a few patches ago, around the start of May. It used to be once a day, maybe 2 times, but now it's constantly happening. I don't understand why they're even in the game, all they do is prolong the game, and I thought WG was trying to keep them short.

Haha. Right. -.-

Yea, would be nice if they cut down the duration indeed. Good suggestion :)

I think it's a tier based thing.. I am all over the map with tiers, often playing from T10 down to T3 in a night... So, I think you will see more squalls if you play mostly high tiers.

They are definitely too long..

According to the Wiki, cyclones have a 10% of occurring.  Maybe I have been unlucky as I have seen them more frequently in the last couple of days.  My big issue with cyclones is that they disproportionately affect CAs.  DDs have detection ranges within 8km so they don't usually get surprised by reduced visibility and BBs have the armor to deal with bumping into an enemy at close range.  With CAs, stumbling into a red BB or two at 8km is very bad news.

I've found that the secret to cyclones if you aren't a DD is to stay in a coordinated group. The other day three of us in cruisers maneuvered together during a cyclone and sunk every ship we encountered. It was a rare instance of cooperation in the game.

Am I the only one who loves cyclones? With regular ships, it's nice not being fired at from the other side of the map and allows me to engage specific people at flanks where I'd otherwise be suiciding. With CVs you can get much closer to the battle, and your planes don't trigger enemy AA until they're right on top. Not to mention enemy fighters have no idea where your planes are.

So, if you're half Italian, does that make it 2? or 8?

I'm not sure if it's linear or exponential but 8 would be closer

Whether the weather be good, or whether the weather be bad, we will weather the weather whatever the weather.

Personally not a huge fan of the cyclones but I can live with it as a dynamic to the game which can be interesting.  However, too much of a "good" thing can be bad.  I am experiencing cyclones on a noticeable increase and was wondering what is up with that.  Sound like some are seeing the same thing....but not everyone so that is odd.  I just wonder if its a mistake where WG meant to turn them down a bit and ended up going the other way.

I am seeing Cyclones way to often for my taste, too.

Here's what I don't get.  If you have an 8km Cyclone view range restriction you can't see past that range even if a teammate can spot someone.  So why the heck can you see out of a solid smoke cloud when your teammate spots someone?  Makes absolutely no sense.  Should be the same thing one way or the other.

Yeah it is happening almost every game. Kind of annoying, I get more bad weather in 2 games than I did in like 8 months at sea IRL.... Not sure why they did that, it adds zero to the game although it is "cute" the first couple of times you play.... It gets old fast.

It does seem to happen in waves and when I'm in ships that are terrible in cyclones....I'll go days without one then all of a sudden 3 of 5 games have cyclones, that's too much.
