Most Amazing Match Ever (for me)

I was just in the most amazing match. I'm still hyped and shaking from it. Wow. It seemed like we had a good match, then suddenly, we were destined to lose, then, suddenly I pulled off what must be the greatest dual in the history of warships and we won. Because the TEAM knocked enough points off their score and I held off the base assault.

I was playing my New Orleans (and just got the Baltimore thanks to this match). We were on hotspot in the version with one team base each. We started in the south and I was in our base just below that fun little cluster of islands. The Mahan and I move into the islands and work together to kill a Akatsuki. We traded fire for a bit, but I finally got him, with secondaries no less. Then I bombarded a Monarch that was running North to the map edge. The Mahan and a BB chased the Monarch down. I decided to hang out near the cap.

Then I beat up a Bayern for a long time (41k in damage more than half of that in fires). I'm still hiding in the islands and the Bayern runs from what is usually the B cap south west. Someone else finally kills him (probably could have gotten arsonist). Oh well.

By this time, we have a DD and two BBs in their cap. Which is fantastic, but they are getting pummeled. I check around and I'm basically defending our cap against a Scharnhorst who is happily coming to kick my [edited]. While I duel with him, I watch our fleet in their cap get slaughtered. I'm about 1/10th health and running away from the Scharn, dodging like crazy. I set her on fire a total of 5 times for 13k in damage and do another 26k in direct fire. Yeah, this was going on a while.

Somehow, I survived a mostly open water dual with a battleship. I look up and it's me and our CV against their CV, a DD, and a BB. But their ships are all the way over at their cap. With 2 minutes left, we have a 40 point lead thanks to the team that sat in their cap for a while. Their CV drops some bombs on me, which I survive. Out of 35,400 hits, I had 460 left. But their team was just too far away and we won on points when the timer ran out.

Unreal.

I'm not that good player. I do think I had one moment of glory, but it was enough to keep the lead the rest of the team earned for us with their blood. Props all around for our team and the enemy. A truly amazing battle. I have the replay... I just don't know what do to with it. If I had the gear and software, I might make a video of what I did and why.

I don't think I've every come first in a match in the New Orleans and certainly rarely gotten more than 100k in damage.

Dang that was fun!!

Good show.

I know how you feel; I'm grinding the New Orleans ATM. The New Orleans is not very forgiving; it isn't fast, doesn't have strong AA or secondaries, a long main gun reload (particularly when stock) and is a shot magnet for every BB out there. The Charles Martel is vastly superior in all respects.

Good job.

Personally; most of my 'great' games I don't even realize are until it's over and I'm all 'Huh? What? We won? Wow... Look at what I managed to do...!'
