i mean why even bother playing this ship its so bad? so many things to fix. i dont know where to begin. i guess range on both main and secondary would be a start. its completely pointless and a waist of money. that is all

Because she's fun and derpy. I'd be fine with just a secondary range increase.

@Kerabatsos Think about it a little. The Mikasa is a Tier 2 battleship, there are no normal tech tree battleships at tier 2. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if WG didn't even buff the secondaries.  The point of the ship is for it to be fun to play, not to be competitive. In order for it to ever be somewhat decent, it would need other battleships at Tier 2  to be compared to, which would help to base and buffs that she may or may not need. To put it in perspective, its for collectors, simply because the actual ship herself is a museum ship. Its much like the Albany its a gimmick ship to play around with.

Put the dragon king into mikasa as captain and solo warrior is yours.

The larger project many would like to see is a Mikasa buff along with the introduction of more pre-dreadnoughts.

Mikasa was designed to face tier I & II ships. I had many exciting games back then just wading in and letting all my guns fire away. I got many a kraken in it, and some 60K damage battles in her. But now that she is in mostly tier III matches, power creep has left her in the dust. Cruisers with torps, DD's with longer ranged torps, & battleships that you cant even scratch (facing a konig albert? sucks to be you...), Mikasa stands little chance without mounting tons of flags, premium modules, a 19 pnt commander, and still the team has to do most of the heavy lifting. I did get into an all tier II battle a few nights ago. It was a small battle and everyone just formed a scrum in the middle of the map. Did 56k & sank 3....ah, the good ol' days....

Take it into co-op & just enjoy it for what it is....

That's an impressive losing streak.  

I wouldn't mind seeing WG tightening up the dispersion in the 12 inch/40 caliber guns and increasing the range of her secondaries so that it more closely mirrored the capabilities the guns historically had. 

But no, the Mikasa is not broken or unusable at all.  I'm not a unicum player, pretty much middle of the road skill wise, but my win rate in the MIGHTY MIKASA is 60%. And no, I'm not dropping Premium Consumables or a 19 point Captain into her nor am I playing in Coop to do that.

Mikasa can handle the destroyers and cruisers at Tier II and Tier III if you play to her strengths. Where she runs into trouble is when she has to take on T3 dreadnoughts.  There's a reason that dreadnoughts replaced pre-dreadnoughts and that shows pretty clearly in Mikasa.  Now that doesn't mean you can't do useful work when facing a Dreadnought.  You do have 12 inch guns so you can damage them where a more lightly armed foe could not and you have armor that is generally as good as a dreadnought's.  When taking on a dreadnought there are two useful outcomes you can gain that will help your team. 

1) The dreadnought treats you as another dreadnought and selects you for it's target.  The Mikasa is a hard target so it can absorb a lot of damage and while the enemy dreadnought is shooting at you, it's not shooting at the rest of it's team.  You might even be able to land some hits of your own to make it easier for the rest of your team to eventually destroy it. 

2) The dreadnought dismisses you as a threat in which case you can happily plink away at it until you annoy it enough to turn on you, or you turn your attention to the less heavily armed cruisers and start sending your own 12 inch shells their way or, better yet, bring them into your secondary range and watch them melt. 

The best way to play the Mikasa is not as the yolo lone wolf but by figuring out how you can use her to help your team. There's a lot she can actually do if you learn to play to her strengths, cover her weaknesses and play for the team win rather than for personal stats.

But no seriously Mikasa is best enjoyed in Co-op where everything is dumb enough to get in secondary range... especially if you can engage your bot clone in a secondary battle. Absolutely nuts to watch.

okay so co op is a blast as you just drive straight forward into the reds and let the secondaries go but even then its hard to get close to them. i think the secondary's range should be opened up to 4.5km and the reload on main gun should be reduced by 15%. i am fine with the innacuracy

Another bit of Mikasa co-op fun is ramming. Most of the ships you encounter aren't very fast, and the bots will bunch up and sail very close, especially if you sail straight to their flag. It can be pretty entertaining to go steaming in to a crowd of bots bots with your secondaries spraying shells all over the place while you run over anything that gets in your way.

okay so i officially have won only two games in her but what i learned is that when the entire team is tier 2, fun ship. but all the games i lost had tier 3 ships in them. the aim is pretty terrible though. on the last game we go ahead early. there was an afk ship. i sat in one place 8km away and shot at the afk ship. it took me 8 reloads of both turrets before i actually hit her...

Have they even tried using the aiming module on her that the Katori uses? Her primary guns are just terrible, I have missed broadside bots that were less than 10 kms from me because of that wild dispersion. The secondaries are just fine, just the ability to hit a target would make playing her a bit more fun.

Taylor...I just checked, and that particular module isn't available for my Mikasa. Kind of a bummer...it would be pretty useful.

Anyway, look at it this way. If you can figure out how to get consistent hits on moving targets with Mikasa's guns, you can probably hit with any other ship in the game...which is a pretty good skill to have...

Yeah sorry I wasn't clear. I was asking generally of the population if they every experimented with that module or the idea of mounting that module on her. Believe me after my one game in her, was looking to see if that was available to use, she is terrible with her primary guns. Truly awful..

Its a fun ship, but not a good one. Just use a secundaries spec cpt with BFT, AFT and manual secundaries and go derp. Its not the best to carry games but its fun.

 

But i agree, Mikasa could use either a main battery accuracy buff or a secundaries range buff. Its just a shame that a ship like Mikasa is so bad in a warship game.

thanks. shes such a cool ship and i love playing with her because of that...but thats it. i am still losing with her lol. any dd can just run circles around me and kill me. my secondaries can't hit them lol

  • +20% to main battery traverse speed.
  • -40% to maximum dispersion of main battery shells.
  • +20% to torpedo tubes traverse speed.
  • +20% to secondary battery maximum firing range.
  • -40% to maximum dispersion of secondary battery shells.

Actuallity :Available only to Iwaki Alpha, Yubari,
and Katori.

I like this, but I'm curious about something. Mikasa only has one upgrade slot. Would you want to add another one?
