How do you become a community contributor

Hi, as someone who streams WoWs regularly, I'm interested in seeing if I could join or at least see what is involved in joining the community contributor program. I've played the game for quite some time and I really enjoy showing off the game to new and old players alike. If anyone has any info on how to get involved with the CC program that would be great! Thank you!

I would recommend just PMing one of the forum mods or game developers like NikoPower

Here's how it worked for me (and for others);

  • Produce regular content.
  • Build a subscriber / viewer / fan base.
  • Get noticed for said content and continue to grow your body of work during this period of observation.
  • Get approached by WGNA when they have an opening.

Some Do's and Don't's

  • DO produce content regularly.  As a streamer, stream regularly.
  • DO try and be seen helping the community grow / improve.
  • DO feel free to offer criticisms about the game / ships / experience.
  • DO show maturity, professionalism and personal responsibility.
  • DON'T make content production contingent on becoming a CC.
  • DON'T be excessively vulgar / unmarketable.
  • DON'T attack other players about stats / performance / hairdo / pineapple on pizza preference
  • DON'T attack Wargaming employees.
  • DON'T expect handouts.
  • Cool 10

WG Asia recently called out to the user base for anyone wanting to be a CC.

Various forms of video content were allowed. Youtube, Twitch, Facebook Live and niconico were the prevailing sites.

Both recorded content and streams were accepted.

(but keep in mind, that's WoWs ASIA and not NA.)

Different regions do things differently.

Thanks for the replies guys! More or less I suppose I just need to be noticed by WG and I'm growing my base slowly but surely. I don't only stream WoWs though I do stream it nearly daily so I was just curious if I could expedite the process at all.

I'd say focus on streaming consistently.  Whether it be daily or just alternate Thursdays, keep to a schedule.  Also it can't hurt to contribute here on the forums regularly, with the same caveats that LittleWhiteMouse mentioned above.  Occasionally mentioning your stream is OK, just don't go overboard promoting it.  Maybe just a link in your signature.

One last one:

  • DON'T be a "Professional with Integrity."

I have to vehemently disagree with Little White Mouse here, that's just uncalled for

Swear, what is this world coming too. :Smile-_tongue:

All seriousness though OP, pretty much just do what you're doing, push out good stuff, promote yourself as best you can (that's something I've always had trouble with, don't want to annoy people lol) and keep it all interesting.  Major thing I can suggest though, is that while you're doing all this, make sure you're having fun and enjoying yourself as well.  Reason I say this is because some of the other CC's have come out and detailed what they do in a given day and what is required of them.  It's quite daunting when I heard about it.  So if you're not having fun before being requested to be a Contributor, then have all the extras piled on, then you're REALLY not going to be having fun.

But this is all with a grain of salt, I'm not a CC myself so could be off base in my assumptions.

The "pineapple on pizza" thing is a deal breaker.

I'm out.

Keep in mind, this is all voluntary.  For some rare CCs, they make a living (or supplement their income) through doing this kind of thing, so the hours invested make a little more sense.  For others that don't monetize their content (like me), it's a little harder to justify if it's not a passion project.

Which is becoming more and more difficult with the youtube adpocalypse happening, leading many youtubers to open patreons.

Ok LWM, I won't call anyone out on pinapple on pizza (besides my wife likes it, so no way am I opening that can of grief). But I'd better not be hearing any sass about my occasional desire for anchovies.

Be positive, be yourself and be unique.

Don't try to force it.  Stay regular and people will watch, take notice, and that will lead to bigger things.

The CC's who posted in this thread are correct on how to get on our radar. Focus on the one thing you REALLY enjoy doing. Do it, have fun, let us know after you do it for a bit, and keep it up. That is how we found the ones we have. We added Zoup after he took part in a creative contest. LWM has always been awesome with her write ups. The others do the same. I hope that helps.

Good luck on the long road ahead of becoming a CC for the NA WoWs community if you're interested still. /^_\\ b
