(moderately surprised i didn't see this on this forum, maybe it got paged down?)

ST, Conqueror and Lion balancing

As the British battleships were introduced quite recently, a simple comparison to older branches doesn't make too much sense. Current Conqueror and Lion population hasn't quite stabilized yet. Therefore we analyzed the statistics of Conqueror owners compared to their appropriate numbers with Yamato, Montana and Grosser Kurfürst.

Average damage (in hit points):
Conqueror: 108 254
Montana: 97 142
Yamato: 95 917
G.K.: 91 981

Average damage (in HP %):
Conqueror: 161,49 (47,3 against cruisers, 96,2 against battleships, 15,8 against destroyers)
Montana: 162,25 (70,8 against cruisers, 71,7 against battleships, 16,9 against destroyers)
Yamato: 153,07 (60,9 against cruisers, 76,6 against battleships, 13,6 against destroyers)
G.K.: 155,45 (66,2 against cruisers, 71,7 against battleships, 16,9 against destroyers)

Average number of ships destroyed:
Conqueror: 0,93
Montana: 1,09
Yamato: 0,95
G.K.: 1,00

Average survival rate:
Conqueror: 52%
Montana: 45%
Yamato: 40%
G.K.: 40%

Average win rate:
Conqueror: 52%
Montana: 54%
Yamato: 52%
G.K.: 53%

Average lifetime (in minutes):
Conqueror: 12,46
Montana: 11,84
Yamato: 11,51
G.K.: 11,35

The story so far:
Conqueror does in fact have high average damage, but that is mostly due to his priority target - other battleships. However, as it is mostly damage by HE shells and fire, Repair Party is quite effective for mitigating that.
As of right now Conqueror's win rate is far from anomalous.
The only tangible thing at the moment is her average lifetime, but decreasing that might heavily impact her efficiency in other departments.
Comparing Lion to her closest adversaries bore similar results.

Using this data we will test the tweaks to performance stats:

Conqueror
- Repair party I consumable recharge time is increased from 120 to 180 seconds;
- Repair party II consumable recharge time is increased from 80 to 120 seconds;
- Detectability range is increased from 14,76 km to 15,66 km;
- Detectability range while firing from smoke screen is increased from 15,85 km to 16,69 km.

Lion
- Repair party I consumable recharge time is increased from 120 to 180 seconds;
- Repair party II consumable recharge time is increased from 80 to 120 seconds.

These changes should balance Conqueror's performance against the other ships of this tier. She will, however, still have the best concealment among the group and the ability to take the most momentary damage thanks to Repair Party.

Yes, there were 3 threads earlier.  Must have gotten pushed off the front page.

WG needs to understand it is not just stats, it is the playstyle from Conqueror causing unpleasant player experience.

The ship favors a sit-back and spam HE playstyle that prevents neither side from pushing. BBs will not want to even push within 16-17km range due to Conq's effective HE.

You might say cruiser do that already. What is wrong with a BB doing it? But you need to remember cruiser has thin armor that prevents them from just sitting still and spamming. They will get deleted from BBs if not careful. Cruisers also have on average shorter range than BBs so HE spamming in the optimal range immediately put them in danger of being deleted.

Conqueror has no such problem. It might be the BB with lowest health but it is still a very survivable BB as long as it stays in range. WG wants players to push in and brawl more but this ship directly shifts meta to the opposite.

At the minimum, WG needs to re-evaluate the balance between the 457mm and 419mm gun optoins. I am pretty sure no one can deny the imbalanced effort/reward between the two gun options.

It shouldn't feel like Wolf359 every time you try to take one down.... The concealment, stupid heal, absurd HE aren't nearly as bad as the play style these things are encouraging, on both teams.

Why did they nerf the consumable when its the absurd HE values that are the issue.

because its WG! they never get things right!:Smile_teethhappy:

also, this whole debacal could end fast if they'd just reduced the fire chance by 5%

So, players complain about that OP stupid HE shell with insane damage and fire chance and WG nerf the repair party? Really?

The problem with Conq. and Lion is that stupid HE that deal 10-15k damage plus 2-3 fires per salvo. Where nerfing the Repair Party will help with that? Gj WG...

A couple possible reasons.

1. Cultural inertia from the Soviet Union days. Admitting you were wrong is not allowed.

2. Nobody in a position to make decisions plays the game. They have all the server data, but with nobody in the room actually playing the game, they have no idea what it means.

There is nothing to give the data context. They see the high damage and survivability numbers and conclude that the problem is the ship is too survivable. Thus the changes proposed are perfectly reasonable from their perspective.

There is nobody in the room who can say, "It has those numbers because the shells are full of gasoline and accurate enough to spam from long range."

At least ships are moving now instead of sitting there bow tanking.

Because after discussing about the Conq and the line in another thread, it does appear that the real issue was the survival rate and not the damage. So, I am actually surprised to see that they did what seems logical and affects only the much higher survial%. This in turn will probably bring some of the damage in line with other BBs without affecting significantly the WR.

The Conqueror is not god-like.  One had the unfortunate chance of running into a Minotaur and me in my Neptune.  We took it down it pretty short order.  Thankfully, I got the last shot.
