When you buy 100 dollars worth of doubloons for the credit card promotion and the credit union calls you within 30 seconds. “This is the [credit union] fraud prevention department...”

Always a fun time. Happened once before after buying a bunch of individual crates during that Christmas crate sale for premium botes.

Could be worse. I got one of those fraud prevention calls after buying a certain joke gift for a buddy's bachelor party. From a very obviously named online store.

At least it is nice to know your credit union is watching out for you.

I get those all the time.  I suppose all those charges to somewhere in Cyprus causes a nervous twitch in those card companies eyes.

I had that happen to me as well. Like said above, at least you know they are watching out for you. That's why I contacted them ahead of time when I traveled over seas. I didn't want them freezing my card.

I find it amusing that my bank doesn't seem to give two sh*ts. I was travelling in the middle east last month and my cousin had her debit and credit cards locked the moment she tried to use them, even though she told them she was travelling. Same thing happened to 3 other people we were travelling with. I apparently, can use my credit card at Mohamad's Falafal & Shisha in a back alley in Cairo and my bank is like, "He's probably fine. Dude loves his falafal".

That's probably because 75% of your purchases back home are from Papa Joe's Falafal Shop.

This is good, however. It's a lot better than doing what my bank company did to me once: utterly neglecting an actual fraud.

I was charged the entirety of my Checking Account, which I won't detail here for obvious reasons, by a company in the UK that I'd never heard of selling a product I'd never used, which, additionally, according to the main page of the website, has a policy of charging random credit cards and forcing you to enter confidential personal information in order to create an account so that you can then revoke the charge by unsubscribing and deleting your account.

Phishing scam? Definitely.

So, when I found out about it a week later, I called the Fraud Department instead of subscribing to this obvious attempt at phishing. When I detailed to them what had happened, and, in-particular, the details of the website, the guy looking at it was like, "Oh," and then paused for a half-minute before saying anything else.

I got my money back. It took another week, but I got it back.

I can usually do one purchase with no issues.  But if I try to do more they'll deactivate the card and give me a call.  Which is why I REALLY wish they'd add a cart to the premium store.
