We can't protect you. We're omnipotent or omnipresent to kill whoever you want or protect all of you. If you were killed by an enemy CV that decided to wipe you out in one go or torture you with a combination of flood and fire, I cannot help you because you were alone*.  If you blame a CV for no fighter escort, it's likely that the good CV needed the fighter escort somewhere. Don't pin the loss of a game to the CV because it's not going to work. So do me a favor and stick with your teammates if you need increased AA. AA keeps the planes away as the World of Warships say.

*If you had an escort and they all died to gunfire and you were the only one left, I'm sorry.

A copy of this is pasted right next to where chat posts are displayed, so when carrier drivers scream for help ...

Of course, the ships everyone screams at if they stay with the fleet are the Destroyers, which are also the ones that need fighter protection the most. BBs and CAs usually mount good AA, but only one or two DDs in the game can credibly shoot down equal-tier planes.

Yet, when they are away from the other ships, providing scouting and spotting for their fleet, almost no CV will provide fighters to drive off bombers exposing the DD and removing it as a factor in the battle.

Seems like a Catch-22. Don't do your role in your fleet and let the enemy torpedo or outspot your team or do your role and be left to die by your Carrier because they didn't want to send fighters to guard you.

Personal experience here, and of course a big thank you to the CVs who do cover the tin cans, and to whom this statement does not apply...as few as you are.

I make exceptions for DDs, provided there isn't an AA bubble between the DD and the rest of the fleet. I also make exceptions for any lone ship with a legitimate chance of capping.

I feel like most of the complaining in chat comes from 3 things, people who dont play CVs and dont understand what its like to play CVs, people who dont admit fault and people who some how forget what happens when an enemy is better than you CV vs CV, DD vs DD, etc...

When I CV I try to block strikes as much as possible, and deliver strikes in turn, but I can not be everywhere on the map all the time and there is a lot more micro involved when playing CV's. Also, there are CV players who are better than me and flat out wreck me some times, I admit that here and in game. Some times you just get beat. Just like some times you carry as hard as you can and still cant win.

This, and when I am not playing CV, I do not expect or yell for help from the CV on my team, I know he is busy and if he notices I need a bit of help and gives it a good try to try and help me I am grateful.  When I play DD I think you need to be of the mindset you at times you are on your own when you are capping.  CV players like Cometguy and many others I have played do make it easier when they can get spotting in and let us focus down a DD to get them out of a cap or down right kill them.  Being I play CVs too I always look at the CV stats of both CVs and make a mental note or two about what is probably their layout and go from there, no matter what boat I am driving.  If I see a new CV (one that has not had all his planes upgraded) I let him if I am driving a AA boat to use me as a bubble for his planes to pass through if they are chased by enemy fighters.  Not many CVs want to pass through a USN AA bubble or the AA of the GFK.  So be nice, help where possible you can make his job easier too.
