 As title.  The game's auto updater popped up, and when I went to start the game, I got an error code and the game refused to launch.  Tried multiple times with the same result.

 Now in the process of re-installing the game after uninstalling it...

Not cool, man

Do you run mods? That might have been what broke your game. WG has always said if you run mods and your game is 'broken' after an update remove the mod.

Also, you could:

1. Try launching the game in safe mode.

2. Run the repair tool.

Both might help resolve the issue if removing the mod doesn't.

also try restarting WGC, because it doesn't always update correctly, it seems.

  Just uninstalled again, because the download got stuck and refused to continue.

  I'll be thinking long and hard about whether I'm going to bother trying again.  It's been 2 years, basic stuff like this shouldn't be messing up like this...  Updates causing the game to crash and no longer work, downloading the game not working properly...  Not to mention the continued quality of play issues.

  Makes me question whether or not I want to continue doing business with this company.  It was fun (mostly) while it lasted...

Question, do you use the WG game center? If so, thats probably why you're having so many issues. I highly recommend you get the old launcher and use that instead, there still should be a download available on the forums somewhere... I'll see if I cant dig it up...

[edit] Found it!

Try this OP, if you have the WGC (or anyone who may have that is having issues)

Yes, it is possible. There's two ways to do it, first one is download the old launcher-install here as it has worked so far for others: http://dl-wows-ec.wargaming.net/na/files/MDcyICBcdT/WoWS_internet_install_na.exe

When/if that stops working, download the EU-install (as EU doesn't have Wargaming Game Center) and install it. Go to your ...\res_mods\0.6.6.1\ folder (or any patch-number that is current when you read it) and create an empty file called scripts_config.xml which you open with Notepad or any other convenient software for editing and put this inside, then save:

  Reveal hidden contents

<scripts_config.xml checkPing="true" debugInfo="true">
    <space>spaces/ocean</space>
    <offlineModel>PASD010_Fletcher_1942</offlineModel>
    <player entityType="Avatar" startDirection="1.0 0.0 0.0" startPosition="0.0 0.0 -313.0"/>
    <cursorScaleSpeed x="40" y="40"/>
    <server online="true">
        <host alias="WOWS NA" csis="http://csis.worldoftanks.com/csis/wowsus">
            <master addr="login2.worldofwarships.com:20020"/>
            <master addr="login1.worldofwarships.com:20020"/>
        </host>
        <host alias="WOWS EU" csis="http://csis.worldoftanks.eu/csis/wowseu">
            <master addr="login1.worldofwarships.eu:20020"/>
            <master addr="login2.worldofwarships.eu:20020"/>
        </host>
        <host alias="WOWS SEA" csis="http://csis.worldoftanks.jp/csis/wowsjp">
            <master addr="login1.worldofwarships.jp:20020"/>
            <master addr="login2.worldofwarships.jp:20020"/>
                </host>
        <host alias="WOWS RU" csis="http://csis.worldoftanks.ru/csis/wowsru">
            <master addr="login1.worldofwarships.ru:20020"/>
            <master addr="login2.worldofwarships.ru:20020"/>
        </host>
    </server>
    <chat visibleLines="6"/>
    <writeCombatLog>true</writeCombatLog>
    <Dock3D>true</Dock3D>
    <CurseVoice>false</CurseVoice>
    <scriptProfiler address="0.0.0.0" enabled="true" netSend="false" port="6666"/>
    <GameParams packed="true"/>
    <disableTrainingRoom>false</disableTrainingRoom>
</scripts_config.xml>

Then you can use that install on NA, or any other server for that matter. One client, all servers.

  I got a 404 error when I tried that link.

  I just uninstalled the Game center, too.

  Tried that, and install wizard says the file is not empty, and thus it cannot install the game.   I'm getting well and truly annoyed with this...

Funny thing is, until I tried to re-install WoWS, I was NOT using Game center.  That icon only popped up after the failed reinstall attempt.

Edit:  There was a file called cef in the World of Warships folder. I deleted that, and now the install wizard is working properly.  Geesh- I thought I had gotten everything.
