torpedo angling ?

Ok so last night I was in my independence and I dropped my torps on a DD and while he was in a turn hit 2 on him then when the 3rd hit he was almost completely parallel to it, then it only took off 4HP !! soooo uh did WG introduce angling dmg reduction to torps ? ...and sorry I don't have replays turned on :(

each ship's hull is divided into parts. if one part takes too much damage, for example the bow, it no longer takes more. Think of it like the bow's blown off, so any  more hit there won't do much.

Moments like these really makes me wish for a hull break mechanic similar to a game you-know-which.

Yeah, that's damage saturation for sure. Angling doesn't do anything about torpedo damage, except presenting your ships as a smaller target.

Anyone have that gif of a ship taking a half dozen torps and living due to damage saturation? Seems appropriate for the topic.

Are you sure about angling?  I thought it did reduce potential damage

Armor angling only applies to AP shells. Angling your ship against torps and HE shells only work in the sense that it provide your enemy with a smaller profile to hit.

Not for torpedoes. You can try to angle to either miss or take it in the torpedo belt if you have one.

I can show you an after action report where I hit 6 torps on a Nicholas, from my Nicholas, and didn't kill him. Damage saturation fer sure!
