Tier 8 and under tech tree gems?

Sadly, I just researched my last and all of the tier ten ships in the game excluding cv's. My goal now is to repopulate my port (as I mostly sold ships to help offset costs of the new one) and staff 19 point captains in special ships. I have many 19 point captains due to my drug addiction concerning WG's steroid flags that I simply cannot stop my self from buying. Many tech tree lines/ships I blew through with camo and lower tier captains and I'm sure I didn't fully appreciate them during the grind......

Besides the NC, Bismarck, Cleveland...what are must haves in your port? I'm leaning towards the Furrytaco and Konigsberg.  Any thoughts and or lower tech tree ships you love to play? I appreciate it and happy Friday!

Clemson, because

Fubuki for T6 DD (Operations).

I really liked New Mexico, and would probably pick her up again if I didn't already have Arizona.

Emile Bertin if you need/want a ship in the T5-cruiser space.

That's all that jump out at me off the top of my head (which is a real trick if you can pull it off).  But maybe I'll post again if I can think of any others.

Tier 8 and below so far? 

Amagi(don't have her yet, but have Kii and love it so Amagi will be a keeper), NC, Bismarck, Gniesneau, Bayern, NM(have AZ or I would of kept NM), Yorck, Cleveland, Kongo, Farragut, Gadae(she's growing on me), Nicholas, Akizuki, KGV, Kiev, Clemson, Konig, Kirov, Emil Bretain, Leander, Fiji, Mogami.

St Louis, (or if you prefer; Bogatyr,) because it's fun raining down fire and IFHE goodness against all those ships that gave you hell back when you didn't know how to aim that well yet...

 

Konigsburg, because RUUUNNN AAWWWAYYYY!!! and still be able to fire most of your guns. (There's some who say Konigsburg's no good... Well; maybe I'm not that good at it, but I like it nonetheless. Some might say; 'why not Kirov?' because Konigsburg can at least dodge, and doesn't die as easily from random droppings of seagull poop like Kirov can.)

 

New Mexico, because 42% torpedo damage reduction if you take the hits right. Beats out everything else except Yammy.

Benson, Farragut, New Mexico (unless you have an Arizona), and Fuso were all highlights for me. Honestly though, that's about it. To be fair though, the entire USN DD line from Clemson on up was an absolute blast to play, I only kept the Benson and Farragut (Fletcher and Gearing as well, of course).

Nassau is a fun and nasty little gem of a tier 3 BB.  As I mentioned in another thread, there's just something about a tier 3 BB that can just sail up to an equal tier cruiser, and sink it from full health with nothing but it's secondaries,lol.  Kaiser is also a lot of fun for those low tier fun matches.

Svietlana.   I just love this ship for when I'm bored of grinding/ tired of the mm biznitch slapping me.   With a skilled captain, and the right skills- this lil beast is just nasty.  (130mm guns, so BFT and AFT apply)   ST Louis/Booger level firepower, now with torpedoes!  (and some speed)

Algerie/ Yorck/ Pensacola.   Fun to play gunships.  Each with a different flavor, but all excel at artillery support.  Yorck is responsible for my love of heavy cruisers, and will never leave my port.  Pepsi gave me a real taste of what good cruiser guns can do.  I'm now applying that to New Orleans, and loving that one too.

 For DD's, your low tier fun stable isn't complete without Storozhevoi; Derzki, Izyaslav or Wickes in addition to the previously mentioned Clemson.  Podvoisky was a standout for me as well.  When you just want to burn, torp, citadel and harrass things for the sheer joy of it, these ships are your friends.  They're also great for making enemy DD's go away with the quickness.  Even Sampson was VERY enjoyable when I came back to it later.

  Call me a rebel, but I actually loved Nurnberg.  I even ground it out during the "World of Battleships" that happened when the German BB's were released.  Yes, it's flimsy- but it's also fast, maneuverable, and has a crazy rate of fire.

 I also agree with most other choices above.   The French CL's were all fun, save for La Glass.

Budyonny, Akatsuki, Bismarck, Bayern, La Galisoniere, Charles Martel, Kirov, Clemson, Wakatake, Umikaze... There are a LOT of ships you should keep, these are the ones I currently have kept.

I really enjoy the tier VIII French cruiser. The Charles Martel? I'll just call him Chuck. Really fast, good AP and HE shells, only downside is she's a bit unresponsive and her AA and torps are meh.

The Z-28, (tier VIII KM DD) or whatever its number is is a lot of fun, with good gun choices. You get five 150mm rifles with the big guns, plus good torps and hydro.

The low tier USN DDs are hilarious fun... lots of fast firing guns on small, nimble platforms.

 

There's bound to be more. But those above me have it pretty well covered.

Yep, I really like mine, and I rarely use the smoke offensively.

 

Nicholas is another ship I enjoy, even though I'm not a big DD fan.

 

Gneisenau is always fun to play as well.

As an interesting side note, I did get the Furrytaco as I wanted Iona as my 19 point captain and will be my ARP Myoko captains as well. of my last two games, British BB's took 5 of the top eight spots in both games. (top four per side). they are too strong.
