Of these premium ships what one is the better pick?

So I have narrowed down what I want for my next premium ship, but what is the better pick of these.

Mikhail Kutuzov ( seems interesting, but unsure do to smoke changes)

Harakaze ( have played Kagero)

Atago (have the non premium version, not sure how I feel about this one)

Kutuzov for sure. Even with smoke changes she is a great ship.

The key to premiums is not just the ship itself, its how can you use it's captain. What other ships do you have? premiums? For example, the Kutuzov...I house my one captain in the Chapayev and use him in the Chapayev, Kutuzov, Murmansk. Molotov and Oleg. Five ships one captain. Harakaze....could be Shima, Harakaze, Shinonome, Kamikazi and Tachibana.....With the Atago you still have choices Say the Zao, Atago, all ARP ships including the Takao and if you have the tier 7 ships that's like 4 Myokos and katori

 

Probably the Harakaze as it gives you multiple playstyles from gunboat to torp boat AND it may not be available again...always nice to have something you may never have an opportunity to get again.

I have the KUTzov and Atago.... if you have to choose one good luck... IMHO it is a hard choice between the two....I LOVE my atago, but the other one too....I will give the edge to Kut.... Russian...
Atago is great if you have a high tier Zao Capt to toss in it...
those 10 KM torps and their arcs are super...

Molotov does all and is the better tier by far........awesome aa and guns and torps and speed.

The molotov is by far 90% better than the tier 8 chappy.

Kutuzov is simply godly until hit bt rain in the side then it melts bad.

I have both. For numbers, Kutuzov. For flexibility and fun, Atago.

 

Kutuzov is a nice painbow firestarter, but Atago's sweet sweet 203mm guns and hit the horizon torps are great.

Be warned though the way ive seen the kutuzov played in battle is pathetic,yes works but that playstyle is an abyss of nope.

Atago plays just like the Myoko, just that she has 4x4 torpedoes and the front 2 on each side swing forward giving you quite a range of being able to torpedo.

Kutuzov for sure. It's a strong ship which can be made even stronger with a good captain build. It also handles getting up-tiered easier than other cruisers of her tier.

Harakaze with quick firing gun acts like a Benson with better camo, surprisingly good.

All the ships you mention are very good premiums but really depends upon a couple of questions - 

• are you grinding the IJN DD line and want a high point captain - get the Harekaze
• if you like playing Cruisers and are grinding either the IJN or RU Cruiser line - what play style do you prefer?
  • Atago can be played a little more aggressively though as with any Cruisers, pick your time and protect your broadsides -
    • has both DF, Cat Fighter and Heal
    • great torps
    • good Cruiser Captain trainer
  • Kutuzov - plays more passively - uses smoke to shoot and burn down opponents
    • smoke plus hydro means you can be aware of torps coming toward your smoke
    • laser like guns with good shell velocity
    • good money maker and Cruiser Captain trainer

All in all, you really cannot go wrong but if you are also looking for that strong credit maker - Kutuzov would be my choice.  Eventually, you might end up with all of them and solve the problem....

Generally speaking, Kutuzov is the best choice if you already have the Takao.

But on a personal note, I barely play my Kutuzov. I do play my Harekaze a lot, and it is a lot of fun. The thing is, the Harekaze really needs at least a 14 point captain to be truly enjoyable, while both Atago and Kutuzov don't need much more than a 10 point captain.

Kutuzov is a fun ship, but it relies a lot on hiding in smoke (and I highly doubt the smoke changes, at least the one they tried out, would really impact her playstyle), while the Atago plays well sailing at high speeds and dodging enemy fire while delivering heavy punches. They're all pretty good, but it really comes down to playstyle.

For my playstyle, few things in the DD department feel as good as a Harekaze equipped with TRB and Akizuki guns.

Basically: Kutuzov if you like a more passive style of gameplay, Harekaze if you're into the playstyle of any IJN DD, Atago if you like the Takao so much that you want a version that gives you more credits and xp.

I have all 3. It depends on your play style. I love IJN DD's so I play the Harekaze most. Probably Kutuzov second and Atago 3rd. For me at least, that's in order of fun.

The Atago also has a Repair Party module, which helps keep you in the match a bit longer, especially if you outrun your spotting DDs and find yourself targeted by half of the enemy team. Unfortunately, at tier VIII, the Atago seems to get up-tiered to tier X matches more often than not. It's slow rate of fire makes hitting DDs a bit of a challenge, though with its speed it can usually catch them and if you land some of that 8-inch HE you can usually delete them.  Even with a full concealment build you still can't quite stealth torp with the Atago, though I've had quite bit of luck sending torps into smoke (got a double strike earlier this week doing that). The AA is meh but adequate to repel a single squadron. Overall. I like the Atago and it's my second favorite cruiser after the Cleveland.

Kutu works well for both  DDs and CL commanders.

I see no reason it won't mesh well with eventual Stalin BB line as well.

 

As to smoke - chilling in your 2 smoke puffs within 7km of the red ships is asking to get torped or blapped anyway.

In playstyle? yes but with better gun angles, in torp style? nope. Think having two torpedo tubes that split the torp arc of the furutaka in half, 4 firing forward, 4 firing backward.

Eh? Atago is a damn fine ship, I don't know what you're thinking. powerful japanese 203s with the standard fire chance, great torp arcs on the forward set and stealthy as all hell, actually able to stealth fire those torps within about .7-.8 km

Atago means going Pyro on BBs, taking down DDs with that same HE and Citadeling Cruisers with the AP.  Like most cruisers you just don't show your side unless necessary, islands are your friends (same goes for the Kutuzov) and most cruisers.  You get repair party (as I was corrected earlier in this thread) which means you will probably dreadnought alot of matches.  While it is hard to stealth torp, you can.  Go full concealment and she drops to like 9.1 detection radius.  Have a full torpedo ark split between the front facing and back facing launchers gives you a lot of flexibility and 10km range torps that hits hard up to 17K worth of damage hard.  Speed almost as fast as a destroyer.  Matter of fact that is how I play Atago like a huge destoyer!  A top speed of 35.5 without the speed flag you are in a position to have fun.  And getting up tiered means you pick your targets carefully and fire from cover where possible. (like most destroyers or cruisers)  Atago does not have the big ark on her guns they are fairly flat and accurate.  Played right everyone will hate you in that ship.
