Desperate to push new players up the line there?:Smile_amazed:

The Derpitz half price sale was well worth it, I wonder if WG is finally going to realize they could actually engage more wallets by not playing to the whales?

Massive kick in the crotch for old timers though....:Smile_teethhappy:

The thing is, I can't even apply camo to my ships yet, because my account is only level 10.

So I get to buy Atlanta, Atago and Scharnhorst... only 1 of which is forgiving to noobs, but I can't even maintain the camo on them yet.

Hmm, that is kind of silly, but WG really doesn't like to go into details.

Can't even count the number of players I've seen recently wondering why they can't use the camo they got..

It makes NO SENSE to gate commander points, cammo and other things behind leveling of accounts for new players when and experienced player can drop into thier games and not only have thier gameplay advantage but a straight up skill and stat advantage as well.

Having been playing since Beta, it has been a long time since I was account level 10, but I do not believe that would matter.  The camo on a premium is basically its base coat, so to speak.  You can temporarily overwrite it with a different camo, but if don't, it should go out with whatever its permanent camo is unless you change it to something else.  You shouldn't have to "maintain" it to be able to use it on a premium.  The ability to maintain camo should just give you the ability to put something else on it temporarily, not prevent you from using the permanent camo it comes with.

For instance, I got the Sims in the Pre-order package.  I don't believe I have ever seen it without its camo.

Well, you'll be able to apply the camo later once you've unlocked it.  I'm not a big fan of encouraging new players to buy high-tier ships that they will just be frustrated in, but those prices are hard to ignore.  If you buy one, just play a few co-op games with it and concentrate on playing up the tech trees until you get comfortable with higher-tier games.  I did that with Tirpitz.

They do that to help keep from overwhelming new players.  When you're having trouble remembering which end is the bow, you don't need to be concerned about min-maxing captain skills and spending credits you don't have on camo.

Oh come on.  A "bow" would be useless.  Arrows would never penetrate a battleship's armor.  :Smile_hiding:

It's a horrible, horrible, bad, horrible, and crappy mechanic.

It's not about min maxing, it's about if I can simply use T1 and T2 captain skills on my T2 or T3 ships. I was teaching my wife to play this game and it was horribly frustrating to not be able to give her priority target to help her understand when she was getting targeted. Puts you at an even bigger disadvantage than otherwise.

I don't disagree with you on this, just stating the reasoning behind it.

not really

in my noob asia account, I'm still at T4 and the majority of my T1~3 games were in the "noob playpen".

Of which the vast majority of the matches were 2 players with 22 bots... The players weren't even beating the bots in score, so they were about as useful as the bots they were playing against. (obviously, I was really clubbing in there, because I don't have an option to disable the protected playpen).

So the random matches were just 12v12 coop for the most part, and it wasn't until T4 did I get to play in 12v12 random matches with players.

You do know there was a time when it wasn't there... you therefore instruct her to always play as if she is targeted. Teach her to zoom in to the nearest ships and look at their main batteries - are they pointing at her? Hard to port or starboard then, even slow or speed up.

Doesn't exist in WoWS - sorry. :fish_cute_2:

I bought Atlanta on Labor Day because it was the first time I had seen it outside a $200 bundle, and available.  I wasn't ready for the ship, but I wanted it available when I was.  I've had some fun with it lately, too.  Poor Leander who stopped just over an island from me didn't like me much.

Well, the asia forums seems to be just... dead

and their contests blow.

like they have contest for RNBBs right now, but you only get 100 doubloons for first place.

where as we get a full ship over here.
