Hello Everyone,

Just wondering why is demolition expert not a recommended captain perk on the Wows Wiki page for the Lion or Conqueror? (Lion is 1 star)

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Conqueror

To me it's not a coincidence that the developers put a 48% fire chance. Add two flags and you have 50%, add Demolition expert and you are over 52%

Does that not mean that at least half of shells guarantee a lighting a fire or two?

Perhaps someone who understands this better can help me.

Thanks!

In my opinion no. BB fire chance, let alone the RN BB's, is so high that the points are better spent elsewhere.

No. Your fire chance is already high enough to where a measly 2% is not gonna do anything.

- The base fire chance is 48%.

- Demolition Expert adds 2%.

- You wind up with 50% fire chance.

- 2% / 50% = a 4% increase in fire chance. 4% is a very, very minuscule boost in fire chance for 3 captain points spent.

For contrast, let's look at a US DD with a 5% fire chance, then add DE.

2% / 5% = a 40% increase in fire chance. A MASSIVE increase. Well worth 3 captain points, if you are setting up a gunboat build.

This, the boost is useful for cruisers and DDs, but for RN and IJN especially, no need for BBs.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the info much appreciated. I understand of the value of 3pts, I was just wondering being a computer program that crossing the %50 threshold mathematically guarantees more fires.

Assuming all shells hit the target (which they often do not)

Conqueror 3x4 = 12/50% (6 shells have a chance of starting a fire)

Lion 3x3 = 9/50% (4.5 shells start a fire)

For Zao - 12/20% = 2.4 shells start a fire

Does it work that way?

Thanks again for clarifying!

The main factor in getting Demo, is reload speed. Nothing else. It doesn't matter how many shells you are throwing out per volley when you have reload times of 25-35 seconds. A lot of people here are feeding you misinformation.

BBs have slow reload, so a percentage based boost is not worth it. Whereas cruisers and DDs have reloads anywhere from 3 seconds to 10 seconds. Therefore, percent increase is a boost in power on fast reload because you are throwing out more shells, ergo, you are rolling the dice more with your 2%
