Do weekend ship events encourage bad behavior?

I like playing all ship lines, which makes weekend events pretty fun because I get to sail out in (or shoot at) specific ships. I've noticed since the battleship weekend, however, that cruisers seem to have "forgotten" to hunt DDs. I've noticed this while playing a BB and having to constantly dodge torps while cruisers shoot at distant BBs, and I've noticed it while playing a DD when I've been able to sneak up way closer than I should to a red BB. It's as if everyone still thinks they are getting bonuses for shooting at a specific ship type.

I can't remember if this happened on carrier, cruiser, or destroyer weekends, so I don't want to make this seem like a cruiser-bashing post. It's definitely possible that this sort of thing happens, like a bad hangover, for a bit after a weekend event. Has anyone else noticed this trend - of players forgetting the rock, paper scissors part of the game - after certain events?

I sadly would not know to say. I'm only a middling Green to Light Blue just above 50% player. So I'm not terrible but I do not have the weight (apparently) to carry many perspectives. What I can say is perhaps it's game growth, which would go against what I imagine is happening post Ranked Seasons 6 and 7; with new players there's some dilution in talent. Otherwise I don't imagine it's the events specifically. It may be just an huge influx of those who couldn't play during other days and now you have far more random selection of players and a wider-bell curve of talent shoved into the Matchmaker.

I don't think so - however understand most cruisers can't be at the front of everyone or they WILL be deleted.  I shoot at any DD I can even if I am 12 Km away (and yes I have hit at that range before).  I WILL torp any BB that is at 10 km and moving toward me since I have 9 KM torps.  You would be surprised how many hit.  A cruisers job is to also set fire to BBs and cit other cruisers - hunting DDs is not their only 'job'.  I cant reasonably go across an entire map trying to find that one DD.

US cruisers generally need to find some cover - like an island to fire over .  They have high arcs - they can fire over cover easily.  French line can be a bit more aggressive thanks to decent torps but still can't be right out there in front or they will get deleted.  In a game a few minutes ago - I was angling to an island in my Algerie when a Bismark promptly plants itself behind teh same island and he stayed there for the first 3-4 minutes of the game.  I was forced in the open against cruisers and BBs and left the game early.

Weekends in general bring out some of the potato byproducts and certain missions ect.. do make it worse when they encourage poor game play (require starting large numbers of fires, requiring 20 kills, ect...)

Think part of the problem is you get kids online often underage that the parents pawn off on the internet, plus some people who only have time on weekends, and then another group that likes to party on weeks so they are various levels of intoxicated. Add in the serious and players at least trying their best to learn and it becomes a very volatile mix for battles.

Im not sure about it encouraging bad behavior, but it sure does discourages the mm to be more further away than it's intended work results.

i don't think it's the missions as much as it is just the weekend players. or weekday players.

or just players in general.

     Yea.

I try to do some of these campaign missions - jeez 1.5 mill potential damage in a cruiser - do I really want to be the target?

Is that my best use?

5 torp hits in a cruiser and survive - is that smart play to TRY to use torps in a tier 9 or 10 cruiser instead of using them as a last resort?

I know that they're trying to get us to do things that are challenging, and what we wouldn't usually do, but...
