Hi guys! 

 

New info has come out on the Dev Blog about the deep water torps:

 

So it appears that they are now testing a type based system rather than a draft based system. Interesting.

what wouldn't be? New lines are great but ignoring game mechanics as a whole will not exactly drive the game forward

I get the feeling the upcoming GZ test with deepwater torpedos will be a way of extending testing, not of GZ, but the upcoming pan Asia torps./ 

Oh, can't wait for Wednesday and a new GZ Test in my port, nor the cries of frustration from team mates and enemies in game.:Smile_popcorn:

edit : this means Warspite, which is riding high as though unladen, will not be immune to these torps then?

I can't decide if these Torps or the whole Pan-Asian tech tree/line is bigger cancer.... they are both such grotesque deformities of the game it is impossible to pick.

No such thing as a pointless waste unless they are playing with the color of the smoke coming from the smokestack. Testing various things such as this is vital to continuing the life of the game. If it turns out bad THEN you will be right, otherwise shut up, sit down and stop being a chicken little.

OH MY GOD you are ADORABLE! This is not a historical game in any capacity and your assumption it is, is bloody CUTE. WE HAVE ANIME SHIPS IN THE GAME FOR GODS SAKES.(note from the fox: I like the anime ships but they are not historical like this maroon was saying) Shut up, sit down and just accept the fact we are getting more warships rather than stagnating and dying.

Wow you are into guys? Take it elsewhere.

We don't have anime SHIP LINES or 'NATIONS.' Just one off event ships they haven't even done any time recently. Said ships were also just re skins of historical IJN ships. Not new ships at all.

'Pan-asian' is entirely different from every nation we had until now. It isn't even a nation. How brain dead retarded do you have to be for that to not compute? Go on demonstrating.

There are probably 100 other ships they could have added before the Pan-Asian line which is nothing but a scummy marketing ploy to appeal to Asians apparently too nationalist to play anything that doesn't a-histrionically pander to them.

Pan-Asian is a whole new level of stupid for the sake of scummy marketing. That it would exist before an Italian tree is a joke.

Obviously you have a beef with the Pan-Asian line given the amount of anger you've been focusing on it over the last couple of days.  You are clearly very upset over this.

I have zero problem admitting it is the single most egregiously terrible thing they have or ever will do to this game. I just can't decide if its the Pan-Asian concept itself presented as a 'nation' with european ships or the deep water turds that make the cake. I guess both.

I've already explained why. In a nutshell, it makes no sense and has zero reason for ever existing and is a perversion of historical reality. There has never been a single reason for why these should exist thus why basically everyone was 'wth' surprised when they were announced.

As an objection to the PADD line that actually has any bearing on the game, I fail to see how the tradeoff that deep-water torpedoes make is sensible for the game. Yes, they don't hit destroyers(they already hit most cruisers anyways, don't see the purpose of this change). But they deal much more damage, and lower detectability makes them functionally superior against battleships and cruisers. How will they not obsolete the USN DD's that they share stats with- and given that especially Fletcher already is kind of OP relative to the other destroyers, how will this be balanced?

I thought Deep Water Torps were always going to be based against type of ship, i.e. DD, Cruiser, BB, etc.  They were actually going to overcomplicate it like they were trying to do with Radar and decided it was a dumb idea, eh?

Well, when I'm no longer willing to push if any unspotted PA DDs are left alive in a match, I don't want to hear a single complaint from anyone. Also, RIP the whole IJN DD line.

Ok, so the torps can only hit cruisers and battleships. This means that they'll probably be perma-spotted by dds while the ships don't take damage. Hydro,PT,and radar would also help, and yet we still have people who say that they're going to destroy the game. For all we know, the guns could be heavily nerfed versions of their contempoaries.

It was originally based on the draft of a ship. So, some cruisers, and perhaps destroyers would be hit by the torps and some wouldn't.
