Could morse code be included in WOWS?

Do you want Morse Code to be included in the game or at least in the forums?

I personally think that it wouldn't be a bad idea to include it into the game and in the forum. It would be a fun way to send messages to one another and neat opportunity to learn how one ship sends messages to another (other ways include flags, cypher, and enigma) in the forum (it can be used for contests or a "Message of the Day".)

It obviously wouldn't be an option to send a message to another in the game (due to its impracticality), but it could be an option as a command response sound (having the morse lamps on your ship flashing wouldn't be a bad idea either), or a sign that enemy ships are near by (if you don't see them, you can hear them).

Here's a link to a Morse code translator if you want to give it a try:    https://morsecode.scphillips.com/translator.html

Otherwise, tell me what you think in the comments.

Its safe to say most people don't know morse code mate. Most people would have to use a translator for it, or own a handbook like I do, or do both like I do. Just sayin'

Even if you did understand morse code, are you really going to have time to send those kind of messages in the heat of battle?  And if so, chances are nobody is going to be looking at your ship (since they'll be looking at the enemy).

Using chat like we have now is already difficult enough...

Due to a misunderstanding, I've edited the main post of this thread. To answer your concerns,  I didn't mean you actually typing it in the game, I meant it being in the forum. For the game, the sounds of  morse code transmissions can be used as a sign for when the enemy is nearby, otherwise as a command sound option.

In a game where communication, as seldom as it happens, is important, I just don't see making it harder to understand what people are saying would be a good idea.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I've fixed the main post of the forum and with that, hopefully the confusion will end.

Little known fact:  It is already in the game.  When you type your message in the chat box, it goes to the ship's virtual communications room, where it is sent to your teammates in Morse Code.  At the receiving end, their virtual communications room receives the message, decodes it into English (or whatever language it was received in) and sends it up to the Captain's chat console.  You know, kind of like it happened in real life.  :Smile_Default:

Sorry, couldn't resist.  Still, let's be honest here.  This is a bit of a :Smile_facepalm: suggestion.  The only people communicating in Morse Code at any point in time were telegraph operators/comm specialists/etc.   No Captain in the history of naval warfare, even if he knew Morse Code,  ever said, "Tell squadron B to '- ..- .-. -. / ... --- ..- - .... / .- -. -.. / . -. --. .- --. . / - .... . / . -. . -- -.--'" and no Captain in the history of naval warfare ever received the message in that format, especially in the heat of a battle.  Likewise, no customer receiving a telegraph message ever received ".... .- ...- .. -. --. / ..-. ..- -. / .. -. / -.. --- -.. --. . / -.-. .. - -.-- / ... - --- .--. / .-- .. ... .... / -.-- --- ..- / .-- . .-. . / .... . .-. . / ... - --- .--.".  What people actually said/received were "Turn south and engage the enemy" and "Having fun in Dodge City stop Wish you were here stop," respectfully.   (No,  I did not know those.  I used a translator to generate them.)  The people originating or receiving the message communicated in English (or their respective languages) and only the communications operators actually used Morse Code.  It really has no place in the actual game as most people would not be able to use it, and the game assumes we are the Captain, not some low ranking enlisted personnel on a telegraph in the communications room.

Even a forum dedicated to something like this would be a way off-topic kind of thing, kind of in the sense of someone who is into the history of food wanting to discuss dietary choices at sea or mechanics enthusiasts wanting to discuss engine rooms and the like.  There is nothing wrong with that, but I would expect it to appeal to a very limited audience.

Even with the in-game clarification, it takes a lot of time to sound out a message in Morse Code, even if it is sped up to the point beyond which even the most experienced operator would dare say, "Say, young man, change off, and send with your other foot."  It would quickly become a distraction and of no value to even an enthusiast.

"SPARE YOU FROM WHAT... BOREDOM... WHAT'S THE PROBLEM, TRANSLATING AND SENDING MESSAGES IS MORE FUN THAN JUST SENDING A DIRECT MESSAGE ISN'T IT."

The problem is it is not needed, boring, and almost nobody knows Morse anymore.

Already have difficulties with English. If we use morse lets do it in Japanese or Russian. Kidding. I am open to the idea, will help me with my English skill or lack thereof.
