WG likes to make premium ships available on a rotating basis to drum up interest in them. Only Gremyashchy, Nikolai, Konig Albert and Kamikaze have been removed permanently for being unbalanced. I play it rarely anymore though as I think it has been a victim of power creep. Don't get me wrong, it is still a good ship, and can do very well in the right circumstances. Whenever I take it out for a spin, I end up bottom tier, which can be challenging. Oh well, ship happens . b

This. When a ship is permanently available, people tend to put off purchasing it as they can get it next time/paycheck/whatever. Having a rotation of ships in the ship/tech tree gives people incentive to go ahead and get it now rather than waiting since it may not be available "next time." This is especially true if you link the return of availability with an event or sale. As long as they create a balance between that incentive and incentivizing people to spend their money elsewhere because what they want is not available, it is simply good marketing. As desmo points out, ships are periodically removed from the tech/tree and premium shop and they eventually return. Only ships that have been deemed OP and unable to be balanced with universal mechanics changes get permanently removed from sale. The alternative would be to have to directly nerf a ship that people have paid real money for, and they are reluctant to do that.

It's in my port and I avoid looking at that ship, which reminds my stupidity and reckless. Sometimes I want to sell it to erase the shameful memory, but later I remember how the 2016 Xmas Santa gift box algorithm works.

It also has the highest win rate and second highest average damage of all the Tier V cruisers, so I cannot agree with your assessment. Second, unless they told you that they were going to give you a different ship for x amount of money, but gave you the Marblehead instead, or unless they otherwise lied to you, no one tricked you into buying the Marblehead. There is plenty of information out there about the ship. Making it only available at specific times is marketing, not deception.
