12,715 [PSP] Snargfargle [PSP] Members 19,325 posts Report post #1 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) I just found out that I can use my ARP commanders in standard IJN-line ships. This is great, as I've been mostly just using Takao and transferring her from ship to ship in order to gain points (still not level 19 but slowly getting there) and thus have a bunch of unassigned 10-point Japanese commanders available. I've disabled the ARP skins and Takao is now Isamu Kimura who, having been educated in the US before the war, speaks perfect English while commanding what is now an uncamouflaged Atago. Unfortunately, Haruna, who I transferred to a Myogi as Masao Suzuki still speaks like a Japanese schoolgirl. I've got the audio set to English and have tried setting voiceover to standard and even to Steven Segal but to no avail. Does anyone know how to get a transferred ARP commander to speak English in a standard IJN-line ship? Edit: fix here! I had never heard of ARP until I played WoWs. I watched the first episode just to see what it was like. Not my cup of tea, but I like the ARP captains. I can't understand them, but boy do they sometimes get excited when you sink something.

Gunzou and Iona are the best. Gunzou because talking to his crew during the battle. [Put him in a DD, holy crap] Iona because she's calm as [edited] even when crapis really hitting the fan. 846 [LOU1] ExploratorOne Members 4,372 posts 15,290 battles Report post #9 Posted September 25, 2017 With the patch that first enabled using ARP captains in IJN ships, you were able to change the voice using the gear menu in the lower right of the port. After the next patch, you could no longer change the voice. I only discovered this while heloing someone in an earlier thread a few weeks ago. When I first used the ARP captains, they used tehe English voiceover. Now it is Japanese schoolgirl.

32 [TACOS] madsgrandad Members 104 posts 9,267 battles Report post #15 Posted September 30, 2017 I don't mind the ridiculous girl child's voice on my Amagi (or the ARP boats), but how can I get English language? The Audio settings change nothing. I've tried different voices, different languages, but always same japanese little girl talking in japanese. This is really stupid.

If Wargaming had done this when the ships were introduced, it would have saved so much anger and angst about their inclusion. Was a missed opportunity IMHO, one that they have rectified but I think the damage is done. When I start grinding my IJN ships again, will be using the ARP captains in them and then dropping them into the ARP ships to farm first win bonuses. It really is a shame they did not do this earlier. When they were put in the game, there was no reason for a non fan of anime to use the ships and it set the "historical purists" over the edge. The inability to mount decent camo to protect the ship made the matter so much worse. They should have made a mission to get premium camo for each of the ships that still keeps the anime look of the vessels. The missing camo is not that big a deal on concealment, but it would be nice to have xp and/or credit bonuses. I have either moved them to IJN ships or planned where I am moving them to IJN ships. I won't have to train up another IJN captain for quite a long time.

I don't know, the concealment bonus and dispersion bonus are helpful. I am with you though, the only IJN captains I will probably keep are those on my carriers. All the others get retired to the reserve.

No, I have a captain on the Kongo which is going to the Fuso and a Furutaka cpt going to the Aoba. Otherwise, ARP Kongo is on the Kongo. ARP Myoko is going to the Myoko. ARP Takeo is going to Mogami, etc. I put the bear on the Hosho. :)
