Radar? :cap_wander_2:

I haven't read any news or anything really, this thread is based on a few model observations in-game. Now since the T9-10 DDs will probably be better Fletchers & Gearings (ok I'm half joking, I wouldn't be surprised if they were though :Smile_teethhappy:), there's a few things that stick out.

Radar dishes of high tier USN radar capable ships:

I don't know about you but those look like huge friggin radar dishes. T8 & below doesn't have that dish, so it's probably a high tier gimmick, like Russian DD heals. Of course this thread is a bunch of speculation so take it with a ocean of salt, just don't be surprised if they do get radar.

I can "somewhat" understand if they do to be able to knife fight other DD's since their torps can't hit them.

Not sure if its a good idea though.

DWT was supposed to be the Pan-Asian line's gimmick. Though since they're useless vs. other DDs and other lightweight CLs, not everyone will take them.

Radar on DDs is fine. Too many DDs at high tiers and WG isn't keeping their promise on a CV rework, so I don't mind more counters added.

Sadly. There was a rumor it was being tested. I want the line, but I still don't think they should have Radar....?

Also, I want guidable torps! Not deep water rock paper scissors meta torps!

As far as what the destroyers were before transferred, it's all there in the tech tree, just hover for the origins and destinations of each DD.

yKnow, come to think of it. if others are fine with it... I wouldn't mind.  They would be super utilitarian.  But I doubt its balanced.

I'm also generally hoping that the T10 Hsiang Yang gets 5.4km concealment.  Most stealthy T10, in trade for the lack of armor compared to Gearing.

Just because the model has dishes doesn't necessarily translate to gameplay functions, though. But it's an interesting theory.

Personally I am vehemently against ships with more radar range than concealment range. Black is bad enough, but it's very rare to begin with, so I can overlook that. I consider Belfast a borderline case because it can radar from smoke, but smoke is temporary and can be torpedoed, plus it's obvious that smoke is there.

Not to mention that Black and Belfast are both like 57%+

Also, this would honestly make the USN a bit irrelevant, which I'm not fond of doing.

According to SeaGroup, the high tier DDs are getting radar.

T8-10. Range: 7.5km.

T8 duration: 10s.

T9 duration: 12s.

T10 duration: 15s.

would be a shame if someone already noticed that huge radar on their models...

Radar dishes on the models don't mean anything.

That duration is hilarious ....

If it has a short cool down though, might be fun.

Call them searchlight DDs

Literally my first thought was, "That radar is pathetic".

All three, of those T8-10 DDs are former US DDs.  Bleaves, Fletcher, and Allen M. Sumner classes.  Pretty pathetic radars indeed, considering their transfer dates of T8: 1955 to TOC, T9: 1963 to ROK and T10: 1969 to ROC

Gearing already has no armor.

It's proofed in limited sections against 127mm shells, but 130mm Soviet guns, that the Gearing usually faces,  penitrate that 21mm of armor like its not there.

Lol. I can agree.  Was expecting to see something like the 50mm plate for Khab but forgot that wasn't normal.

Yeah, that radar duration is utterly pathetic.  But really funny. If the cool down is say 1 min long, it makes it pretty tactical.

What about something crazier... long range radar, shows everything that's 15+km away on the map for 20 sec.
