If you were in command of one of your nation's fleets, which ships (that you have in the game) would you consider your flag/stand-by flag ships of those fleets?

I'll use my ships as an example;

Japan:       Yamato (FS), Atago (SFS)                           U.S.A.:      Missouri (FS), North Carolina (SFS)

Germany: Bismarck (FS), Tirpitz (SFS)                         Russia:    Mikhail Kutuzov (FS), Molotov (SFS)

Britain:     Hood (FS), King George V (SFS)                  France:    Dunkerque (FS), Algerie (SFS)

Let us know in the comments.

No real opinion on the other nations but Yamato and Tirp are my go to ships if I'm not trying to accomplish anything specific.

Mine would assuredly be Enterprise. Followed by Yamato, and Mo.

For me

IJN: Amagi

KM: Bismarck

USN: Iowa

RN: Iron Duke? (I am not a big fan of there tier 5's, but that's as far as I have gotten)

FR: None, don't play them

RU: Kutozov

Over all: Bismarck, arguably the best looking ship in the game. Also 11km secondary build is fun to play.

But of course! That's why she's my flagship of the German line with her sister as the standby flagship.

I would make the Montana my flag ship.  The Missouri is my training ship for captains.  Once I have all my captains at 18 points I will assign Admiral Segal back to the Missouri.

I am trying to figure out how to rename the captains.  I have a list of the actual captains and admirals that sailed/commanded actual ships in WWII.  I believe the ability to assign a ship as Primary Ship already fills this roll.

If I was a fleet commander, I would rather serve on a ship capable of high speed and good communications, but still powerful enough to hold its own against aircraft and small cruisers - preferably a heavy cruiser like the Zao (or Takao IRL) or a solid battleship like the KGV-class. Get the heavier 15" and 16" battleships to trade blows on the front lines, while I spam HE and coordinate the attacks from a bit further away.

My flagships: King George V, Bismarck, Amagi, Zao

IJN is tough choice but likely Yamato or a Heavy Cruiser like Zao or Myoko. Really depends on the mission since various Cruisers served as Command ships if they were leading DD squadrons or Cruisers squadrons.

KM: Bismarck with Gneisenau as my second. ( If H-44 had been available that would be my 1st choice for Flagship.)

USN: Missouri, with  Massachusetts or Texas being my second options.

RN: Not sure really since  so many had plenty of drawbacks their ships. Hood was ok unless it faced some thing like Bismarck or many of the ships of the IJN would have been muderous on her as well.

RU: I'll stay on land thank you since they were mainly coastal defense ships anyway and the ships often got covered in Arctic ice on some of their missions.

French: Definately a BB since their Cruisers tended to be lightly armored and relatively easy to sink, but many of their BBs were good. ( some French Cruisers were sunk, raised by Italians and then got sank again lol )

Overall/USN: North Carolina (my key ship according to Warships.today)

IJN: Nagato

RN: Hood; Fiji as SFS (Orion for WW1 ops)

FN: Dunkerque

KM: Tirpitz,Yorck as SFS (Kaiser for WW1 ops)

USN: North Carolina; Indianapolis SFS (I have Iowa, but would hold her as advanced firepower)

RU: Aurora

Are we supposed to do this based on the ships we have/have played or just based on all the ships in the game?

I will base it on all ships in the game not just what I have played. To me, as another poster mentioned you want powerful ships so unless it is a very special ship historically then it is mainly T10 IMO and CV should be seriously considered when available...

USN: Montana (FS) + Midway (SFS)

BRN: Hood (FS) + Conqueror (SFS)

IJN: Yamato (FS) + Hakruyu (SFS)

FRN: Henri IV (FS) + Dunkerque (SFS)

KM: Bismarck (FS) + Hindenburg (SFS)

RUS: Moskva (FS) + Dmitri Donskoi (SFS)

My entire fleet is Anglo-German. My lineup will always be purely BB with one cruiser per nation(Graf Spee for Germany and whichever British Cruiser I'm up to in the tree, save Black Swan which is there simply by nostaglia).

Germany Tirpitz(flagship)

Nassau(stand by)

Graf Spee

Konig

Kaiser

UK-Orion(flagship)

Warspite (standby)

Danae

Bellerophon

Iron Duke

Black Swan
