Most players were only interested in farming Halloween camos, after which they didn't care about completing the primary task. Good to see Rasputin again. 152 [WOLFB] Saidalphon Members 438 posts 8,185 battles Report post #13 Posted September 18, 2017 My GOD do those ships look sexy. I'm sorry but there isn't any other way i can put it. The steam-punk/love-craft aesthetics works so well with all of these. It's also great to see steam punk that isn't just "put some gears on it and call it steam-punk." 75 karmajay Members 344 posts 8,062 battles Report post #15 Posted September 18, 2017 I enjoyed but never completed it because too many players would not learn or follow instructions. I think there should be a regular AND a hard mode. You can do the regular which may be easier for pub groups and a hard for those that are able to learn or group up and you get more rewards. And for those that will say "Wargaming should not be giving out achievements" some people have to pug these things and it is pure luck if you get a pug full of decent players in these events. 1,654 [CALM] YamatoA150 Beta Testers 6,831 posts 5,115 battles Report post #18 Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) What I'm hoping for is WG selling the skins as replacer camouflage (a la Battle Damaged Hood/Bismarck) this year, if not the ships themselves. Maybe sell the replacer camo in a mega-bundle that's cheaper than buying each individually. Only thing missing from the teaser is Zikasa; all the other ships from last year are teased again. That aside, some of the skins don't look complete; just add-ons instead of also recoloring the hulls to match. Then again, these are probably early images, and they haven't gotten around to completely repainting the hulls to match. Only the trio of player ships from last year are color-matched to their add-ons. Rasputin is also missing the darker/almost black hull she had. BTW, it looks to be that Bismarck and Tirpitz get a skin each. Spoiler Note the torpedo launchers. Bismarck most likely. I do hope for an Amagi skin using the Rasputin's mutation style. Or maybe with a tentacle theme akin to Destiny's SIVA just w/o the octahedrons, and fleshier, or the Halo Flood, wrapped around the main guns, secondaries, AA mounts, and piercing through some parts of the ship itself, while a mutated ball of mass is protruding from the bridge. Pretty much like the PvE operations you can do now with Halloween overtones. EXCEPT it is a pass/fail so like trying to 5 star an operation every time. You did get rewards (camo) just for attempting though which is good. Edited September 18, 2017 by karmajay

In addition to what karmajay said, the Event itself required you escort the Transylvania to the exit portal (seen in one of the in-game maps currently as two pillars). You were originally limited to 3 event ships you could use; a DD, a CL, and a BB. The enemy consisted of reskinned Mikasas and the boss Rasputin (reskinned Imperator Nikolai), supported by a battery of AI mega catapults on various islands. Maybe an enemy DD as well. The 3 event ships had bonus damage modifiers on them; the BB did bonus damage to catapults, the CL did bonus damage to something, and the DD did bonus damage to Zikasas. Enemy Catapults also did bonus damage to the DD, but almost none to the BB. In addition, the mission required you stay near the target at all times, to get it moving, so it required some teamwork between defending the ship and a few allies sinking some Zikasas in advance or sinking some catapults.

These new Halloween skins could also be rewards similar to the recent Congratulatory camos. I would prefer that Rasputin became a premium ship though because I don't have the Imperator Nikolai so I can't enjoy that mutated skin. I do agree that the darker version was better. I don't remember any bonus damage modifiers (e.g. catapults could take off lots of health from the DD, but only because it has no armor - I also vaguely recall taking hits from the catapults in the DD without taking damage because it got ate by a module, which was hilarious), but the Igor had an absurd fire chance, something like 33%. Also, there were no enemy DDs, just the Zikasas, the catapults, and Rasputin. Other things to remember is that the Zikasas only ever used their secondaries, so they were only a threat within something like 4km. There were two possible routes, selected at random, and you had to stay near the Transylvania to keep it moving. This was important, because additional Zikasas would spawn behind you that didn't actually matter on account of being too slow to catch up...as long as you kept moving. DD was called "Blade," and was a Wakatake; CL was called "Igor," and was a St. Louis; BB was called "Jackal," and was a Nassau. You only won the operation by successfully getting the Transylvania to the portal, but you could get other rewards by completing secondary objectives regardless of whether or not you won the mission as a whole.
