Your opinions on Update 0.6.10.1: Warships Turns 2 - Veterans Rewarded

I Myself will receive very little rewards for being a new player on WOWS, and rightly so, I am pleased that veteran players such as my father 13Ninjas and Uncle iJoby with over 1000 battles on WOWS EU, will.

My rewards will come from collectables that will earn me permanent camos for completing each of the four sub-collections, for Kiev, Charles Martel, Z-23, New Orleans and Monarch (All will be waiting in port and obtained when said ships researched)   and the Holiday Achievements mission 2.

It seems quite a few players are unhappy with the TX ownership rewards, I would have thought it was every players goal to one day own a TX ship of your choice and then grind for more, this takes a lot of time, and thus deserves the rewards that player will be getting.

Please comment your opinions on why you think the birthday rewards could have been produced in a better way.

Wish they'd give us a freebie ship, but I suppose that's asking for too much in this day and age eh?

As someone not particularly interested in grinding to T10, I also don't have any 10s, and am disappointed that there is such a large reward for having 10s.

I believe WG is trying to reward those that have been the most committed players to the game, hence the number of battles played and the number of tierX. But it does seem to be sloppy marketing, half hearted, and  a little unfair to those that have many thousands of battles (not me) but no tX. But you know what they say, it is the thought that counts.

I've found WG's celebratory gestures towards their player base very fair and generous for the Anniversary Celebrations.

Going back a year to WG's 1st Anniversary, my recollection is that they did a similar thing w/ a scaled distribution of dragon flags (thx to OP for correcting me on this) based on 1000s of games played and a special promo for having playing Tier Xs.  At the time, I appreciated the flags, and was a bit mad at myself for not yet having a Tier X - you see, I'm a history buff and wanted to experience all the gunship lines (DDs, CA/CLs, BBs) w/o skipping any w/ FreeXP - so I was playing all the lines simultaneously & had reached Tier VIII, but had no Tier Xs.

Back to the 2nd Anniversary promo - I now have over 10000 games played & have 9 Tier Xs in port (3 more are currently unlocked but won't be purchased by the celebration time window and the remaining 3 lines will be fully unlocked by the end of the year.  I'll enjoy the celebration rewards even more this year, but I consider the enjoyment of playing all the ships the key factor and the celebration rewards were just a bonus.  My point is that we love this game, enjoy it & savor it - WG has a nice celebration promo on its anniversaries - if you don't have those Tier Xs this year, you know what's to come next year & if the Tier X is your goal, it gives you a bit more incentive to shoot for!

Haven't seen anything negative about rewarding players with tier 10s. I am with Pikohan, not really interested in the grind to the upper tiers. I have a tier 9 DD but the upgrade grind was long and it really burned me out. Just lost interest in it. I pretty much stop most forward momentum on most lines at tier 7/8. For ships I don't care for (USSR DDs and IJN CAs) have pretty much quit them at tier 5. Spend more time grinding captains to level 19 now.

I am glad that Wargaming is rewarding players with tier 10's in their port. Anyone that can stomach that grind without jumping off a tall building, deserves some love. I like the idea of using super containers as rewards as well since there can be something really good in them. I look forward to the "I got 6 super containers and all I got was special upgrade modules" threads that will show up this week.

I have 171 ships exactly 4 of which are tier 10, Go Figure! It's their party. I think that there should be some other cool things for the newer players too. You were here for the party after all. There isn't much call in taxing a member for their sign up date. Not to say you should not reward long time standings either. There is such a thing in the US as a Booby Prize though (I have waited  54 years to use the word Booby, in a statement without sexual connotations attributed towards it)

I won a Kamakazi R:Smile_child:a long time ago in the pearl competition and in those days there was not a lot of comps. Offered

these days there's so many missions and even daily missions

to float yer boat

I particularly liked the daily convoy escort missions myself,:Smile_great:however and I don't like to be negative but

player burnout is real, Ive been through it trying to push to hard and grind out a line to get to a specific goal and add to that bad timing of a Wows Cruiser nerf that required a change in playstyle, weather good for the game or not and all of a sudden the fun factor is missing

So many Competitions now some remind me of ranked battles that require some serious time effort to complete

sadly have very little grinding left in me for those

I still ADAPT IMPROVISE OVERCOME:Smile_honoring:

just not like I used to:Smile_sad:

The good thing is that you reap great rewards this year, 10k games = 100 of each special flag, and 9 SC's.

also I believe it was Dragon Flags awarded on WOWS 1st Birthday and not Camos. HERE, my Uncle iJoby told me he awarded 950 of them.

Couldn't remember if it was cammos or flags, but it was pretty good and appreciated - you're right it was dragon flags!  Corrected my post -

A comment from @Sub_Octavian on EU Forums regarding his design and production of the 2nd Birthday Celebration rewards.

Yea, ''Lots of goodies''. For players who have couple thousands of battles and at least several tier 10 ships.

The rest of us can go fu*k ourselfs.

At least I know WG wont see any more cent from me

- what I feel like, as a guy who designed the birthday collection, after reading this post. Uh.

Yeah, I don't like the T10 ship extras.

I have T10 ships now, but I didn't really want to own or play T10 ships around the first anniversary, because of how bad the economy was back then.
Not that it feels like the economy improved, but right now I have Missouri and premium time, so 1mil/match is easy peasy and I don't have to worry about my T9/10 ships draining out my credits.

Well, I'm a scrub and nowhere near Tier X.  Heck, I think I only have one Tier V, and that's the Texas.  And I only bought that because it's moored a few miles from me.  I just hope they have a bunch of specials on some premium ships.  I have a few doubloons to use.  Not going to wallet my way up to Tier X, but might look at a couple in Tier V or VI.  I'm too much a potato to go beyond that at this time.

But congrats to all the vets who have been at this for so long.  You can enjoy sinking me later if I ever catch up. Unlike Hades_Warrior, I'm happy for you.  Nice to see WG reward those who have stayed with it for so long.  And it's their party, they don't have to hand out freebies to everyone.  Heck, they don't have to hand out any at all.  So I think it's a nice gesture.

Last year, I didn't have any tier X ships.  This year I have two, I think.  I haven't put many games into them, mostly because tier X game play appeals as much as licking asphalt on a hot summer's day.

Try spreading some Lollipops on the Asphalt before you start licking ... it makes X play almost palatable... almost

I need to by back my Zao and quickly finish grinding my FDG, other TX in my port includes the Monty, Des Moines, Shimkaze, Gearing and Henri IV only had 2 TX last time.

Don't expect WG to please everyone whichever route they take on celebrating their instrument's 2nd bday, yes not everyone like TX matches but that's how it makes player trying to play the game to its full potential.

My idea was give doubloons to all players based on their win count, through someone out there is gonna point out that bots would have abused their way for those rewards...

Interesting idea, how would your distribute the doubloons, for example <50% & >50% win count?

Im not sure but it was an idea that popped into my head while reading through this thread, maybe it would depend on the number of battles played that have ended on a win /;^_\\
