I have little faith in that actually being modelled accurately, let alone setup correctly.

With previous experience not just here but specifically how 'festive' that was with tanks.

Then let me hit you from another angle:

We've had what were essentially squad battles here/small fleets/competition style. And we *still* have co-op for some reason but thankfully on a timer now so as not to waste resources in a queue.

......how segmented do you want the community to be?

Id love to see some more, though, id prefer some early 20th century. I know there is the battle of Jutland, but to have the falkland islands battle between the British and Graf Spee's raiders would be really awesome!

Some of the Guadalcanal naval battles might be interesting with a map of "the slot" and the use of cruisers and destroyers.  But some naval battles involved multiple cv's with a 1 or 2 cv advantage by the IJN.  I don't see that happening.  The Q times waiting for the right amount of ships for each side could be a problem here.

The scenarios are a step in the right direction, but a little historical video to set the historical stage, plus the units that actually participated could make the historical battles very interesting.  They were the highlight of Battlestations Pacific.  The entire team could consist of just US ships, or IJN ships, instead of it being of competitive teams.  WGing make wonderful historical videos, but unfortunately they don't integrate into the actual game.  Important ships like USS Washington, and USS South Dakota could be "lent" to players that already have unlocked the NC class or own an Alabama, much like how the Dunkirk scenario lent 2 new destroyers to the player.

I really don't see such a thing being possible with PvP.
Well okay, the ships are there, but we haven't had any "Axis" scenarios yet, so I doubt we will ever get to play as the Axis powers in an Allies vs. Axis type game mode.

I know some other people have noticed this, but for those who haven't, a majority of the "enemy" ships you see in scenarios are axis ships. In particular, the vast majority are IJN ships.
The Dunkirk one, obviously, has the Germans as the "enemy" force.

Can you play as the "Axis" ships in these scenarios? Barring the Dunkirk scenario, Yes.
Can you play against the "Allied" ships in these scenarios? No.

I don't know if there are Axis scenarios in the works, but the first five all being "Allied", I'm not sure.
I understand the stigma of having the "Axis" as the protagonist the player can play, because they are the "bad guys" and you can't cheer the bad guys these days, without getting in trouble somewhere.

So, Yes. I would like to see such a mode being possible.
However, I am skeptical of it being possible outside of private matches using the training rooms.

There are so many ways to expand on making maps that kinda sorta depic a realistic battle which occured. As an example would be Wake Island. You could place wake island in the center of the map and each team starts on the far ends of the map. The mission would be is to capture anf hold the island perimeter like a mini-epicenter (which I detest) but in this case applicable.  If you think of it - in this model almost any island could be used but Wake is unique in its U-shaped form. Other ideas, I am sure could be borne but there is no will to make NEW maps in reality. Lots of talk but thats about it. I had put up a post with a couple of my designs but I didn't get anymore from the users here which SHOWS YOU that its all talk and nothing else. So there you have it...Almost ALL games had players submit designs so that it could get feedback to tweek it so that it looked like a good finalized product but we have not even started on step one!   So thats my beef on this issue. My attitude right now is that the maps now might as well be borne with a baking sheet and then sprinkled flour on top islands to complete a map.  Ok rant off.

Again, I point to Battlestations Pacific, where they have a Japanese campaign which starts with Pearl Harbor, and ends with an invasion of Hawaii.  I would think the idea of playing as an Axis ship wouldn't be taboo.
