Pal, you do know that not everyone happens to have $60 dollars to spend willy nilly every time a premium ship like the Enterprise comes along, right?

USN ruled the skies over the Pacific after Midway.  So USN CVs should be the best of the best.  I am only up to Bogue so I cant judge the entire line  There must be some awesome CVs in there someplace.  .

70 year old summer child.

Unless this game is purposely biased, USN did rule the seas in WW2.  That should be reflected in superior ships across all USN lines.  For those who say, USN had superior numbers then each USN ship should be 150-200% more powerful than its adversary because it represents more ships or because USN sailors were more efficient.

The issue is that USN CVS  are somewhat broken so they fixed it by gimping their loadouts.  You can't fix their loadouts without rebalancing the entire line.

A somewhat gimped enterprise is the top t8 for example. Down tiered planes, worse torpedo drop pattern and situational ap bombs. Working around all of that and she is still a beast.

Thx for the info.  Playing Ranger now for the first time in PT 6.11.  Look forward to grinding up thru all the USN CV and DD.

I'm only at tier 6 (Independence) myself, but it seems to me that the larger squadron size is actually holding back the American CVs. Take the following scenario. A Japanese CV has two 4-plane squadrons of Torpedo bombers. He sends them to attack an enemy ship. 1) he either does a cross drop, almost assuring a hit, or 2) he attacks in waves. The first wave, if successful, causes damage, and forces use of the repair party. Once the Repair party is done, (and btw, the ship driver is distracted with this attack to notice), the second wave comes in and if successful, causes more flooding, and the ever dreamed of 'damage over time.'

But take the American CV driver.. at the lower tiers, maybe only one squadron of Dive Bombers. He attacks and if successful, causes fire, maybe even two fires. The enemy ship calls out the repair party, but this time, there is no second wave. The American DBs head back to the carrier to rearm. By the time the DBs get back to the enemy ship, the Repair Party cool-down is either done, or close to it. So a subsequent attack gets minimal damage.  With the American CVs there's less of a chance or opportunity for DOT.

True, the larger squadrons are nice, but they force the American CV to become a specialist, either AS or Strike. They hamper the ability to cause damage over time.

Second, there is a uneven amount of Captain Skills to buff the TBs compared to DBs. There are skills to enhance Torpedo planes; Torpedo Acceleration and Torpedo Arm Expert. There aren't analogous skills to buff the DB performance.. (maybe a DB accuracy, Defensive Fire Immunity skill).

Just a couple thoughts I had.
