Is it just me or do the bots treat the Atlanta like a DD?

I noticed the second you get spotted every single bot will target and chase you down

I am under the impression (I could be wrong) that bots prioritize the lowest HP targets, not specifically DDs. It is just that DDs (and Atlanta) will generally have the lowest HP.

You are correct. In any sort of match against bots, they will prioritize targets with lower HP pools instead of ship class.

Eh, just means more targets getting into your murderous gun barrage. :Smile_playing:

I don't think their targeting is as simple as picking the lowest HP target, I've notice many times they don't follow that.  Just yesterday I was in a game with a friend, both of us in Alabamas, followed by an Atago, and even though all 3 of us were close in with 2 bot BB's, they chose to stick on me as the target, instead of the atago that was just as close, and at half health at the time. And theres been many times before that where I've seen them go after higher health targets instead.

I think I remember reading something a while ago that ships have a "threat" stat or something that aids them in their targeting?  It was in regards to the Eugen when it was first coming out, something about it having a threat stat changed because the bots were like seagulls over a dropped box of fries when they saw it.  I could be just crazy tho

No.  The bots target you because you are YOU.

I've noticed they tend to leave potatoes alone while targeting the more experienced players.  I've had them shoot over three full-broadside friendlies to hit me repeatedly.

My second account opened my eyes to a bot that beats me down to single digit health then becomes 'distracted' to a point I can sail up to it and ram it.

And then there is the occasional 'Killer Co-Op' where they slaughter everyone in a couple minutes.

I usually don't play coop but I wasted like 6 hours going between Atlanta and Molotov trying to get 8 fires for the quest (for comparison, 2nd game in a stock T5 Iron Duke gave me 8 fires in 25 hits.. Nerf RN already) in coop Friday night I had to play a Belfast to get the fires (in random). What I noticed is:

A.) Your red team mirror ship will always go straight for you no matter what you do.

B.) Whoever is out front and spotted first is going to get focus fired, which means often teams are even more cowardly in coop than in normal random games and that's saying something.

C.) 4 and 4.5 KM torps suck - especially when you're used to IJN DD's.

Atlanta is one of those ships in Co-op that can make you either cheer with glee, or rage quit - with very little middle ground.  Sometimes both in the same match, lol.

Completely dependent on whether you're being shot at, or whether or not the bots are focused on you.  If so, prepare to spend what little remains of your game with most of your armament either knocked out or destroyed.

But yes, they do treat it like a DD- and worse- like a PREMIUM DD.

But fair is fair: an Atlanta that is left alone is the most incredibly irritating thing in the world- a firehose of 5" shells, and fires- and it has torpedoes, if you decide to get aggressive and chase it out of it's little sniper's nest.  An Atlanta with a smoke buddy will make you want to put your foot through your monitor or punch someone hard in the stones.  I guess even bots have nerves, lol.

Last game I played in mine, 2 minutes after the first red was spotted, I was down to ONE turret (the rest were destroyed), and one torp launcher- which kept getting blown up again as soon as it was repaired.   Soon after that I was on the bottom.   The rest of the games previous to that were similar.

It's been on museum row ever since, and has been permanently retired.  One of the premiums I deeply regret buying, and the only one I've been seriously tempted to sell.

Took my Atlanta out into coop tonight after reading this post just to see how the AI reacted to it.  It was a good chance to get some time in it since I haven't played it much lately. First game out, there were 3 Atlantas per team.   I felt like a fire pinata. I scored well, but boy you do get focused on.  The beauty of AI is that they aim where you would be if you continued in a straight line.  As long as you continuously change direction and speed, you can stay alive.  I enjoyed it so I played a couple more and did quite well.

Being a co-op main player, I seem to remember it not being that way. It seems to me that up till a few updates ago the Atlanta could get away with a lot more and not be targeted as DD's currently are. However, within the past few updates its as if things have changed, its as if the BOT team automatically turns all guns on you same as a DD, perhaps it is because most humans turn all guns on opposing Atlantas as soon as they can to eliminate them so the BOTS are acting in the same way.
