WG, Love the new graphics but... too many explosions?

Is it just me or do you think the explosions are a tad too much?  I think they look great, but wouldn't they be better if the ship died via a devastating strike or detonation?  Instead of with every death?

Wrong.

As TCBaker said, there is no such thing as "too many explosions".  Although maybe the experience will be better with better graphics.

I think they are out of place for sure. They seem way to HD compared to the rest of the graphics, its like they tried to mix Battlefield graphics with Modern Warfare graphics. It just doesn't work for me.

Too realistic for the current state of the game. But if they plan on updating the maps and models to fit in, I'm fine with it.

This is what you get when Michael Bay do the graphics of WOW.

 

Honestly i feel like they put the detonation explosion on every ship  killed ship. The only thing that bother me is when shells land next to the targetted ship and i can't aim at the ship because of the explosion in the water. 

 

But i like the changes

But back to topic....looks absolutely fine to me and realistic. Of coruse, theres some lag to it and flames could last a lot longer bcuz irl, the smoke/flames goes on and on for hrs or sometimes even a day or so. :Smile_glasses:

I like the new effects, but at least the muzzle blasts look off a bit, like they're from a game with different lighting or something. Not really sure how to describe it, just something isn't quite right.

Muzzle blasts scale weirdly right now, in terms of animation length and frame rate. They also share a transparency issue with all the new smoke-type effects, in that they don't blend nicely into their surroundings -- they're too opaque, and it's also causing gameplay issues.

Its the smoke, dissipates in seconds.  The effect looks wrong because it just vanishes without a trace.

I'm all for explosions, but the death scenario needs a few alternates and I think if WG just dimmed the brightness a little and greyed up the black smoke so they don't look like ARP toons we might just have it right.

Some of that may be on my end though. I'm running maxed graphics, but only on 720p

No, I'd agree they do look like something just a little more sophisticated than an original 2.5D Doom sprite.  Running maxed graphics at 3440 x 1440 doesn't help at all either.

Cartoon ships and characters for several years: totally relevant and appropriate you anime-hating bigots. 

 

Awesome explosions: Out of place and detracts from the realism of this warship simulator.

I don't want less explosions, I want more dynamic explosions, and more dynamic damage  too instead of just pasted on pictures
