Greetings all,

So I was watching the new RN BB commercial and I noticed a very off looking Japanese carrier...

The superstructure appears to be on the port side. The only Japanese carrier in-game that has an island on the port side is Hiryu. But comparing this ship to Hiryu and a few things don't match up. For example, the bridge on our mystery ship is very tall and skinny and also appears to be located very far forward. By contrast, Hiryu's superstructure is comparatively short and is almost dead center on the flight deck.

The upper bow on the mystery ship also appears to be very wide and circular... kind of like Zuikaku's...

And while the island is much further forward on Zuikaku than Hiryu, it is on the wrong side of the ship and also looks too short.

The only other Japanese carrier that comes to mind that has a port-side superstructure is Akagi. And while akagi was briefly in the game during Alpha, you will notice that her flight deck is much higher up over the hull than the ship in the picture and her superstructure is also in the middle of the ship...

The tall and skinny superstructure looks like Hosho's original superstructure...

But her superstructure is on the wrong side....

So I have no idea what the mystery ship is. Maybe it's a Japanese paper carrier and that's why I don't recognize it. :fish_book:

Anyone have any ideas? :cap_hmm:

The bow looks like the Shinano....But the superstructure is off.

Sure the British/German didn't make/plan anyone that was backwards?

Any chance the ship was going the opposite way and we're looking at the stern?

Hm. Any Light carriers come to mind? Hiyou class, Chitose class, Ryuuhou?

British RN carrier (tall islands typical of some WW2 designs)

But not a superstructure on the port side. Every carrier I've ever seen has the superstructure on the starboard side. That's why it seems we're looking at it from the back.

It's very skeptical. I believe the banner for the WoWs main page for the first Enterprise sale had USS Worcester in the middleground.

The files are, I believe, already in the game, and have been for some time.

There's also a new class of American cruiser in the Massachusetts video.

Yep. So again, all skeptical stuff. We should probably take it as a teaser of sorts..

After a bit of googling, I found that the first CVs had the islands to starboard because the piston engines on early prop planes torqued to the left, so it was easier to abort to port, so they put the island on the starboard side. Everyone else has followed from tradition.

The Japanese had two CVs with the island on the left, so they could work in pairs with CVs with islands on the right. Hiryu and Akagi. The superstructure could just be WG messing around, and Akagi did undergo several refits (originally laid down as Amagi).

Are we sure that section of the video wasn't just accidentally or intentionally mirrored during editing for aesthetic purposes?

Right, we've covered that. What of paper designs though?

Well, no.

Another strange aspect of the video is that Nelson's 120mm guns don't have gun shields....

There are only a handful of left side bridge carriers, because right side became the standard
