You are warned any attempt to quote this article to win an argument will be ridiculed by this author. Let me start with I wrote this piece against the advice of counsel and in defiance of several cease and desist notice sent via bricks through the window of my small room attached to my parent's garage. Which is interesting as I live in the basement I only keep my action figure collection in that room. I digress anyway this ship is an interesting ship from my standpoint as my grandfather served aboard her sister ship the USS Detroit during WW2. Mainly after he creatively filed for transfer to it from Alaska after he realized it was winter and he was from Texas where there isn't winter. He did manage to ride out the war as a scout plane mechanic for the scout plane she was equipped. Though WG in game has Omaha with a Floatplane fighter. I chock that discrepancy to grand dad's old age as clearly he must of forgot he was a float plane fighter mechanic, that or he was being humble about what he did during the war. Though he did get to watch the Japanese sign the surrender first hand he did get that part right also Detroit was one of two ships to be at both pearl and the surrender. The other was the West Virginia who WG really needs to add to the game like yesterday. Anyways y'all could careless about history as much as what does the Omaha really bring to the game. Well IMO Omaha is the greatest training ship in the game. But wait you say she isn't premium she can't train officers. Not what I am talking about, Omaha trains you to never ever show your broadside not even to a tier 2 destroyer or you get a reminder of why not in the form of being sunk or really close to it. Omaha's citadel is like a tattoo on a hung over sororities girls butt that says touch me. She has got to hide that thing, or the inevitable will happen. Which is fine as she is the best point and shoot cruiser of tier V which is to say the only one. She has the best Torpedo angle a cruiser can have the only way it could be better is if she could dive underwater and shoot them out of the bow. But that wouldn't be sporting and kind of a submarine. She has two clones Marblehead sell It, and Murmansk steal it. Well to finish the exercise in wasting time away. Is she a keeper?.....yes! Especially if you are a historical masochist that really wants to remember why you need to keep the bow pointing at what you are shooting at all times. For everyone else yes because you need to keep your armor angling skills freshened and also everyone forgets she has torpedoes with comical results. Final Opinion: Keeper in port and remember she is your penance for Cleveland being so low tiered. Edited September 2, 2017 by GreyFox78659

I've always known that she was easily blown up, and having some experience, she was actually a blast to play.

Only problem is, the Cleveland makes you forget how to play the Pensacola. Thus, everyone hates the Pensacola because they forgot how to Omaha. That said, I played the Omaha on the PTS a while back, and enjoyed it. WASD, spam BBs from outside their gun range. Great fun. Until that Colorado notices you... 256 [VANN] VannKraken [VANN] Members 965 posts 7,235 battles Report post #4 Posted September 1, 2017 I need to buy Omaha back at some point. US cruisers were my first line and I got my butt kicked in it a lot. I didn't understand the concept of holding fire and going dark (if possible) before turning whatsoever at that stage. I'm sure lots of opposing BB drivers loved me for that, though! I've had a blast going back to the Cleveland, lately, but was scarred to the point that I have not bought Pensacola, yet... 18,004 [WOLF5] HazeGrayUnderway Members 39,393 posts 31,553 battles Report post #9 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) At launch, Omaha was an absolute keeper. It was also the time when AFT & BFT buffed 155mm or smaller guns, so you can see how well that worked out for CLs. Her nickname at that time was "OPmaha." Everyone kept an Omaha just to have fun with it even after going way higher in the tiers. The meta for CLs at that tier is vastly different then compared to now. Not just due to MM but the newer Cruisers are a big problem for Omaha. Konigsberg, Kirov can crush Omaha. Then newer BBs can do the same. Konig is deadly with her dispersion, the most ideal Cruiser killing guns on a Tier V BB. Well, that is until Iron Duke showed up to LOL-PEN-CIT-AND-SET-FIRES on a Cruiser with HE shells, and flip you off when your CL tries to angle. When AFT & BFT was nerfed, all CLs were affected and Omaha was one of the worst hit by it. Edited September 4, 2017 by HazeGrayUnderway

Phoenix and Cleveland were both way more fun. I think it was the playstyle being so like the Phoenix but in tier7.

I have the Marblehead and Murmansk through Santa Crates... so I knew what I was in for... but it is really bad in the Omaha right now - tiered up all the time, 5 bazillion RN BBs in each battle, everyone on the map shoot at you, feel like the Olympic torch, running around the map being on fire all the time... and I still have 30k in experience to go... yuk
