I mean in file size.

It's 40.8GB now, where as it used to be 30GB or there abouts.

Well I would hope so.  You have more ships, better sounds and better graphics, what did you expect?

You apparently know nothing about programming.  Its not just the ships graphics.  Its the sound, the coding, the ambient graphics.  Why does it even matter anyway?  Kind of retarded to really question or debate it.  Learn how things work

hi def terrain files and new sound files etc..  as players want more and prettier graphic the file size grow and these are additional file, not reworks of existing files.. if you could go into the game and remove the files that are never going tobe used the game would likely shrink buy 10-15 Gb

No, I know exactly how graphics, sound and coding works.
sound and graphics will take up the most space, while 3D models take up the least.
Game code does not change significantly in size.

You're telling me, that 8 ships and their SFX are worth 10GB?
Because I could have sworn we already had HD sound, 100+ ships, their graphics and game code all within 30GB.

The numbers don't add up

LOL, what a waste of energy.  Why does this bother you so much.  So did you also put into account the new global graphics and sound?  Probably not, did you put into consideration other ships that were added that you can't see that us Supertesters will be testing?  There's more to this game than what you actually see.  Debating about it is ridiculous.

This is a more informative post, thanks.

I knew about the new effects, but was not exactly aware of HD terrain files.

Wow, another one from Canada who instantly goes for the insults when they don't get their way or when proved wrong.  Pathetic.  Too bad you wasted your time tying what you did because the forums auto edits it and you get the attention of the moderators.  Good job little guy.

More contents:
Improved SFXs, more audio files added including languages voiceover, more ships added means more 3D physical models, inclusion of armor schemes may take some spaces, refined graphics, don't forget more physical motion movements for every new ships added, even more phenomenal/geographical & weather effects added.

From my limited understanding, both acoustics & motion animations take considerably high resolutions to input into computers to process them in & out. Higher resolution would need more powerful microprocessors & probably more & better multiplexing "filters" needed to filter more unneeded high frequency junks while keeping up with increasing computational resources. And frequencies are essential to dictate time response for computer's processor.

Well the average AAA game is 50+GB so no surprises.

Those AAA games also tend to have a storyline campaign mode, extreme resolution textures, diverse sfx set, massive maps and a newer generation game engine that utilizes newer rendering methods.

and, like I said already, it's the sound and textures that eat up the most disk space these days.

I remember time when 1.5 mb files takes more than 2 hours to reload. 9600 bps was something cool then. Not to mention 14 400 bps!

Fallout 4 also has a voiced, multiple ending storyline.

I'm surprised it's only 90GB, in fact.

So after digging around a bit and comparing the PT to the Live Client. Looks like my 6.10 install wasn't deleting the *.KILLME files in the res_packages folder.

Deleting those and doing a integrity check the game runs fine.

Brought the folder size back down to 28GB (which is the same as the PT + my replays and screen shots)

Oh wow, those killme files are taking up 12.2GB of disk space.

That certainly explains a lot.

nice work.
