Thanks to Zoup and Nikopower, the Alabama now sits in my port. And she is beautiful. Well, she is from the South Dakota class, and the fourth ship in the class. Despite the fact that I have never sailed a single US BB apart from Arkansas Beta, and those guns have a higher muzzle velocity too, I think it's around 800 or so meters per second while the Alabama sits at 701 meters per second. It only took me 3 battles to realize where I should aim to get those shells to hit, I was pleasantly surprised though, despite her having a muzzle velocity that's a whole 100meters per second slower or even nearly 200 meters per second slower than the Amagi and the Izumo respectively, and a whole 200 meters per second slower than Scharnhorst, her guns behaved fairly well.

All in all, I didn't expect to do well in the first couple of battles I played her, but she worked out pretty well. My first battle had 66k damage simply because I was adjusting to her guns, and by the fourth battle I hit 120k damage, although, as fate would have it, my 120k damage game was also my first loss in the ship lol So to make up for my loss, I jumped into a div with my clan mates:

One thing I noticed about her guns, is that it is fairly easy to hit turrets and super-structures under 10km with her. Something that was always harder to do in Izumo and Amagi, and Scharnhorst and Bismarck, Alabama seems to do it fairly easily. I think it's to do with her muzzle velocity. The under-water citadel and 50% torpedo reduction get me into trouble as I get very cheeky in games with that third turret, simply because I can with her citadel :Smile_teethhappy:

So after a total of 6 games, I am very happy with her and she's a very comfortable ship to play.

What I imagine every time she does something good, which has been all 6 games so far. And in all 6 games, despite me being AA Spec'd, I only ever saw 1 carrier XD

Never have, never will fear a Bismarck XD

It's just a fat, soft target.

Congrats on the Alabama!  Looks like you and here were made for each other.

I purchased it since it came back to the shop - missed the first time as was paying for son's surgery.....  have not played it much yet but looking forward to seeing how she performs.

Good thing I still have the Kutuzov to deal with Alabamas :cap_haloween:

Congrats on winning the ship, on a side note, how many entries did you put in to win it?

I did that to a Kutuzov which just was stopping to smoke...

Triple citadel, full HP deletion. I was cackling so hard after that.

What!?!?!?  You have to play more US battleships, they are a blast!  Iowa and North Carolina are very powerful.

It boils down to interest. I had absolutely no interest in playing those two ships as I simply have no interest in them in real life. The only Iowa I have interest of is the Missouri, since she was the first Battleship I ever saw. The South Dakotas because of their reputation, and Colorado because I need to have a collection of the Big 7 in my port. It's the same reason my grind for the German BBs stopped at Gneisenau.
