Im at iowa but i dont know if i should go for monty or just grind for kurry, because i feel that monty is weakest in sirvivability, max broadside power, and firepower.

shes got very accurate guns and is the fastest of the tier 10 BBs you forgot that.....:fish_book:

also the Kurry turns like a brick and is a torpedo magnet. granted monty doesn't turn much better but she can dodge torps a lot better!

She is fast and maneuverable,  you have to respect that AA, and she has one of the most powerful broadsides in the game, and yeah, accurate.  Just keep her squishy sides hidden or angle for your life.  I think she's worth it, but with all tier 10 ships, yeah it gets frustrating when you lose and keeping your ventures funded is a problem too.

Save the credits and grind the Royal Navy line, the T10 will make monty even more obsolete than she already is.

Obsolete?!?

The Montana is a fantastic BB, in it's own right. It was great even before the recent buff, now it's just awesome. The problem is a lot of people try to take on the other tier 10 BBs with it in an incorrect manner. If you use the Montana as it should be used, it can put out absolutely MONSTER games.

The popular "Montana is obsolete" phrase couldn't be further from the truth.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

The Montana's actually in a really good place right now.  TBH, I prefer playing her over my Yammy thanks to her speed, extra turret, and faster turret rotation.  I haven't tried the Grosser Kurfurst, but since I usually win 1-v-1's vs. Kurfursts while in my Monty, I haven't felt any particular drive to get one.

EDIT:  Her secondaries are also surprisingly good.  With just the slot 2 secondary mod, AFT, and a secondary flag (I don't have manual secondaries), she gets a 9km range and functional dispersion.   The last game I played with her, I had 77 secondary hits for 11k damage.  Of course, that was the same game where I got a devastating strike on a Yammy for putting rounds from all six of my forward guns into her citadel at point-blank range (yep, every single one was a citadel hit!).

Did you not read that I said when the T10 RN BB comes out?

Watch some of the videos, it has a heal that restores 4 times more health than the montana, the guns are also more accurate and fire faster. If a person fired a salvo every time the guns reload the T10 RN BB puts out around 550K more damage in a 20 minute game over the montana.

Yep. I read I read your whole post and I still disagree with you.

The T10 RN BB is looks to be very soft, armor-wise, so all the massive heal does is offset that.

Regardless of whatever the T10 RN BB turns out to be, the Montana is in a really good place right now, so your entire statement is invalidated by you saying she's going to be "even more obsolete." She's not even obsolete right now. Quite the contrary, in fact.

It was well worth the grind.  The Montana is my highest damage per game BB compared to my Yamato and GK.  Just have to have good awareness and choose your targets.  Fire all your guns and quickly angle back.  Has the best of both worlds.  Good guns, decent armour and great AA.  Plus I have Segal as the captain so the turret traverse is fantastic.

Soft with a citadel that cant be hit, so health recovery is better than the ships that can actually be citadeled. 12 419mm guns, 26.4s reload, better accuracy, and better mid range AA means there is nothing that montana does that the T10 RN BB cant do better.

I dont call being 7-8K damage lower than the other T10s to be in a good place, her sub 50% win rate would agree with me.

Part of the problem is there is a whole swathe of players that go up the USN BB line due to "historical reasons". They have no clue how to actually play them correctly. This especially applies to the Iowa, Missouri, and Montana.

Played correctly, these three ships are very strong. Played incorrectly, they become food for the masses. That sentiment can be applied to any other ship really, but it applies dearly to these three. The difference in performance between playing these ships correctly... and not... is huge. The problem is... most players fall into the latter category and have no idea how to make them shine.
