Clan Naval Base (just an idea I had)

So, sitting around bored the other day and decided to play with a proposal for clan functions (man, I need a life).  I started out using WOT Clan Strongholds as a basis, but I put quite a few little twists that I hope would encourage activity and solve some of the issues that cropped up in WOT.   These are just ideas I put down after a little thought, definitely subject to changes.  I am hoping that posting something like this and getting the community to share their thoughts might help along the process of Clan activities being introduced.  I will give some bullet points on things as I go here.  

 

*The primary Structures I have listed are the ones I think would be very beneficial.  The other possible structures were ones I thought of later and haven't spent enough time developing the idea behind each one.  

*Fleet HQ is a structure that I want to have, but I wanted a significant benefit to it.  I couldn't make up my mind, so I have 4 options listed, give me your thoughts.  

*Once a Clan upgrades its first building to Level 6 the Base becomes open for other Clans to attack.   The battle tier is determined by the defending clan's highest building level (Level 6 & 7 would be Tier 7, Level 8 and above would be Tier 10).

*The passive benefits on some structures are to entice all Clans to level up their Structures and participate in battles.

*I had the idea of letting each Clan choose a side, Axis or Allies.  This would affect their defensive Structures (Airfield, Shore Battery, etc.)  An example would be an Axis base would receive Japanese fighters with smaller squadrons but with torpedo bombers and German shore batteries with the KM HE performance.  Allies would receive American fighters squadrons with dive bombers and British shore batteries with the RN lower pen AP.

*The total number of Structures a Clan can build would be limited, forcing a Clan to choose between Economic bonuses and Base Defense.  Please see the notes on Fleet HQ for another option on this.

Fleet HQ:   Service Cost Reduction or Maximum Clan Membership Increase or

Dry Dock:   Reduction in Resources lost when Structures are destroyed by Enemy              
Pier:     Increase in Resources gained when Structures are destroyed by Team              
Repair Ship:   Ship HP restored over time during battle                    
Surveillance Station: Detects ships at a range determined by Station's level and ship concealment              
                                 
Earning Resources                              
Naval Base Assault: One Clan schedules an attack on an opposing Clan's Naval Base.  Bases must have 1 Structure leveled up to Tier 6 for participation.  
       *Due to Defensive Structures the defending Clan has an advantage, therefore the Resource earning potential favors the attacker.  
       *Winner receives a set amount of Resources.  Additionally the attacking Clan can earn Resources for destroying Structures    
       *Resources earned for the winner are based on the ship tier the battle utilizes (Tier 7 or Tier 10), Resources awarded for destroyed   
        Structures is based on the Structure's level.  Destroyed Structures must be repaired at the cost of the Resources awarded.    
Naval Engagements:    Two teams (7v7 at Tier 7, 12v12 at Tier 10) fight it out for a share of Resources            
Operations:     Once a player has completed an Operation (for any number of stars) the prizes previously awarded are replaced with 5 Resources per star. 
        For Example:  The player has completed Operation Killer Whale up to 3 stars and now completes it at 4 stars.  The player now receives the 10 point captain plus 15 resources (3 stars x 5 resources)

Ok, actually a well parsed post for your first one. :Smile_medal:

Clans are an afterthought at this point, 90% of the player base will never even join one. And I really don't know why you would suggest such a complex system for an Arcade game. Most of the player base doesn't even understand shell mechanics, expecting players to get involved in something like this seems...naive.

Add to that WG apparently already has some type of clan combat in mind, I hardly think they are going to completely redo it at this point.

This will never be a competitive game, WG thought they could make WOT on water, and they failed to understand the differences.

A remarkable amount of work on your idea, OP. +1 for you, although, I have to agree with 'awiggin', your idea is likely not going to happen.

At present, I would be happy if WG actually offered the graphic of a Clan Flag in the game now.

Even before any other specialized clan functions are offered.

I'd even pay Doubloons (money) for this extra feature.

So this will be like bastion and the operations? I feel like upgrading your base will be like games such as Boom Beach or clash of clans, it would be cool if it was put in WoWs.

The feels like the naval action arcade game version of Utopia, +1 for that and the well thought out nature of the post, but as stated unfortunately nothing like this is likely to happen.

Such a complex system?  It really isn't much different from the World of Tanks original Stronghold system.  The added features such as Shore Battery and MTBs already exist in game in the Operations mode.  It would be mostly a matter of drawing up the economics and developing a map or two (or altering existing maps such as the base maps in the Operations).  Yes, 90% of players wouldn't join clans, however having clan activities would draw in more players and increase the participation level of many current players.  Many clan players will spend a considerable amount of time (and money) on the game, increasing profit and server population.  And that 90%?  Many of them play 5-10 battles per week, your 10% in Clans will play 100+ per week.  

 

I was under the belief that the original clan combat had been junked due to poor feedback among community members, where have you read about planned clan activity?  Would love to read that.   Having said all of this, this post was just to throw out an idea to create discussion and hopefully interest in clan play.
