Mod Question

I recently decided to start running Aslains modpack for some features that I wanted in game. I downloaded, and selected ship names in chat, team lists with live HP, torpedo ranges, consumable icons, basically a bunch of stuff to give me more information on the ships in the game. I applied it, and it worked great. FPS dropped, but I was able to compensate for that.

Then the update hit. It was a few days, but then Aslain updated the mod pack. But I had to go in to the forum, and basically install it fresh. My question is there an installer that I can open, select what I want, and then it will update it, without me having to go out and do the whole thing from the beginning every patch? Also, I forgot to add an item I want. Is there a way to go in and turn this on, or do I have re-install the whole thing again? It seems a little stupid to have to re-install the whole thing everytime the game updates or you want to change everything, but it is an unofficial mod.

I have also seen the official WOWS modpack. Is there any reason to go with that over Aslains? (like more user friendly)

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will have to download the mod installer after each update of game or mod.

Game changes the mod folder name with each update so the mod install needs to be updated to install to the new folder.

The mod installer also has to be updated when new mods are added/removed.

It is the standard way all the mod installers are.

You can download the separate mods and move them to the game mod folder yourself if you do not want to use the installer.

Aslains and the Wargaming modpack are similar in setup.  Multiple menus divided into categories, click and select which ones you want.  I used to use Aslains up until Wargaming started with their modpack.  Why the switch?  Well Wargamings is official.  They put the stuff in that they are OK with and it comes from the game makers themselves so I'll usually opt for that...  Although I still do miss the historical flags mod :(

As far as your update, nope, has to be re-downloaded after every patch and re-run.  Updates mess up the files.  Now sometimes you can get away with renaming the folder.  Go into the mod folder and you'll see a folder that's corresponding to the update number.  If you rename that folder to match the current update it will sometimes work.  Personally it never works for me and just ends up crashing my game when I try to do it that way :(

As far as if you forget something, in the beginning section there's a checkbox to install fresh, or keep existing.  Installing fresh will remove all the previous mods in your folder, redownload them, re-install.  If you keep the existing it'll just add in what you might have forgotten.  Unless you've got a hodepodge of mods, some from a pack, some you've manually added in that won't be re-added by the pack installer itself, I'd recommend just installing fresh for piece of mind, but that's just me.
