New Options / Tic Boxes for 06100 ... and a unique Ranked Season suggestion

Look, I know your developers have been busy fixing some glaring and serious issues in the code that has hamstrung the players' enjoyment of the game, like fixing the rigging graphic on my Black Swan. Now, maybe some lesser issues can be addressed? Some of these I shared months ago, and some are new suggestions.

After I've been deleted or else lost my ship in a hard-fought battle, and my frustration level is astronomical, I just want to leave the battle (or even the game itself) immediately! I would SO appreciate this option for the less-timid, definitive player:

☑ Disable Confirmation Dialog Screens

 

And while I'm suggesting (begging)... The spam-friendly F-Key clutter that saturates chat like flatulence in an elevator... Please, oh please, might I also lobby for this option, too:

☑ Disable F-Key Messages

 

In a port with about 90 ships, sometimes I just want some of them gone; not ghosted but can still be clicked on, NO... G O N E. Make the filter disappear the ships that don't match chosen criteria.

☑ Hide Filtered Ships

 

There are a lot of various sound files grouped under the anemically few slider bars under Audio, some worthless sounds (sinking) are useless to gameplay while others are valuable (collision). How about a small cluster of click boxes that give muting options for certain sounds like:

☑ Mute Sinking sounds

 

Containers are fine, and whoever did the container cinematic sequence is to be congratulated, but please figure out that its impressiveness wanes after 4 times. There's enough wait times in this game without this now-baneful flic.

☑ Disable Container Cinematics

 

In battle chat, there are some players that I just don't want to see what they say. They drink from unflushed toilets and then spew the filth into chat. What about an option to simply NOT SEE whatever these people are saying?

☑ Hide Messages From This Player

 

And a "Never-in-a-million-years-will-this-ever-be-an-option" option:

☑ No Matches with Less Than 7 Human Players

About Ranked...

I hear this season's Tier 6 Ranked was enjoyable because all the machinations that begin at Tier 7 were absent, bringing some simplicity to the experience. What about a Tier 1 Ranked Season? I know, I know.... the horde of 'potato' players would absolutely wreck it - so I propose putting in a 500-game 'buy in.' This would be a pretty serious filter on the "baby seal" population in the matches, and would also provide the most basic and even playing field any Ranked player could ever hope for, as even tight team play, while helpful, isn't essential at this tier: It really is just your boat, your guns, and your skill in deploying them.

Why tier 1?  There is only one class of ship available, making the gameplay even more redundant and stale than it already becomes after 100+ battles.  If we're going to suggest lower tier, at least let's make it T2, T3, or T4, so at least there is some ship class variety for those who prefer DD's or BB's instead of cruisers boring, single ammo type gun boats.

That's precisely what Tier 1 eliminates. It is the purest, most basic Warships experience. Boring? Perhaps to some - so they won't participate. I've managed to avoid boredom after over 4000 games at tier 1.

I've seen many that would agree with you about the container animation. 

 

I would be in that group as well.

 

I would be down to try a T1 Ranked season. The battles would prolly go pretty fast. My biggest issue with Ranked is we need more irrevocables. Scrubs are gonna rank out anyways. It's not gonna hurt anything.

i'm sorry to burst your bubble. but there are no "high-end" tier 1 players. there are tier 1 players. that's it. just because someone who knows how to aim plays with a bunch of players that don't, doesn't make them a unicorn. just a seal clubber.

 

i'd wager that if they did happen to move ranked to tier 1, you would get a very rude awakening in what it's like to play against players who actually know how to move and aim.

i would put literally all of those players in the 'seal' category, since you brought it up. i won't go into why, because it's not my intent to shame them.

 

and bragging about the number of games you've played at tier 1 isn't exactly going to fill anyone with awe. more concern. do you also enjoy picking the wings off flies, and burning ants with a magnifying glass?

tier 1 is the kiddie pool. it only took me a few games to figure that out.

Looking at their frag averages, no doubt... That's because it's a tough theater down there. You can laugh, but you have no credibility to authoritatively declare anything, having spent no time there. I have more shots of high ranking players (with their rank insignia) not finishing well.... But you keep your beliefs... or you can do what this guy did:

I just don't see how you can play that many T1 games. It's so incredibly devoid of complexity and depth. It's the rubber ducky version of WoWs. You learn how to use basic game functionality and that's it. 

 

More power to ya though. Keep doin' what you enjoy. However, due to its simplicity, I certainly wouldn't call it "competitive".

I like the analogy of cards. There are difficult card games with complex permutations (like Canasta), then there's Euchre. I've played both, but I prefer the simplicity of Euchre. It's not tough, or all that disappointing when you lose. The simplicity allows greater fellowship and camaraderie. When someone says "Let's play some Euchre," I don't say "Nah, I've played that card game like 35 times, I've had enough." Bah, deal the cards and let's enjoy the game!

Warships is like that..... Week after week, both here and on Reddit, There's the "I'm bored" or "I'm losing interest" or "I'm tired of the lack of team play" or "I'm sick of this or that boat" being OP or worthless or whatever posts. I try to remind those people of the simple game that hooked us all. Tier 1.

It's like grandma's pumkin pie.... always the same, and always enjoyable.

I absolutely have to resonate with this..the low tiers...1,2...def are devoid of anything fun once you've played mid to high tiers....without going into it much..yeah its REALLY boring

This phrase has vexed me a bit, and I must speak.

I use my Swan as a T1 cross between a WWII DD and sub, which means my preferred combat radius is < 4km. I have ambushed players at < 3km in a near-perfect broadside attack, put my reticle on the waterline just behind the smokestack and fired.... and MISSED! The Swan's guns have to be the most inaccurate guns in the game. The high rate of fire is allegedly to compensate for its 'ability' to hit both sun and moon in a lunar eclipse situation in the same salvo.

So... perhaps the phrase should read "just player skill and a little luck."
