I love this as one of the more realistic portrayals of real life challenges that fire control directors had to deal with.  In real life, it is/was always preferable to be attacking out of the sun.  Visit any WWII ship and look through their optics.  You'll see some attempts at monocolored viewsights to try to mitigate these issues they were only modestly effective.

Spoooooooooooon, I'm really sorry this had to happen on your thread.  Very nice picture.  I think people always forget the little details in the game.  Things like sun glare, clouds, sound effects.

That lens flare effect is pretty neat, I was surprised the first time I saw it in a match too.  Although I wouldn't expect the lighting conditions in that game snapshot would warrant a rainbow flare, but I could be wrong.  It doesn't look as natural as say, lens flares in Skyrim.  I didn't think they'd invest that much effort in the graphics engine for a game like this nonetheless.  You can see a couple lens flares in the pictures (scroll near the bottom) I took with my Nikon D5300 two weeks ago in Yosemite:

Now that this is back on track,  I'm going to finish the thought I had earlier.  I noticed something in the game recently that I have never noticed before in my 3-4 years of playing this game.  Some of the small sound effects that go on when you're in battle.  I've noticed you can actually hear muffled shouts and commands coming from within the ship.  When you are close to the ship or in scope view, you can hear people shouting and yelling.  Its very quiet and muffled so it's impossible to understand what they are saying but it's there none the less.  Next time in battle, turn the SFX and the ambience all the way up and the music down.  There's also a radio call that seems happen at random intervels as well as everytime you bring up the scope with a ship in view.
