So my Gnevny is supposed to have a 10% fire chance.... from HE.

Yet this was the second match today that looked like this. More like a 1% fire chance. I feel so trolled by RNGeezus idk what to say. Common as I fear? lol. I got the ONE fire like in the last 3 shots I landed in the match too which was hilarious... in a messed up way.

At least we won? Didn't feel like it personally I guess though.

Each ship has its own fire chance modifier, sort of like the torpedo protection modifier.  Your effective fire chance depends on the target, and also where you're shooting it.  So, the result is a combination of that principle and your apparently garbage luck.

At that Tier you should expect a fire chance of ~7.5%, and that still doesn't take Captain Skills and Modules into account.

This link gives you a formula for Fire chances and all of the other necessary information:

How do we know that you didn't fire mostly AP or kept hitting a section on a ship that is already on fire?

That's not quite accurate.  The fire resistance coefficient is based on Tier, and not individual ships.  This means that every single ship in a given tier mathematically has the same fire resistance.  Furthermore where you shoot the ship has no affect on fire chance, unless of course the part of the ship you are shooting at is already on fire.  This has all been confirmed at one point or another by the devs, and numerous forum posters, myself included, have ran tests in the training room to confirm it as well.

This just looks like RNG took a massive dump on the OP, although it is possible he just had the misfortune to be shooting at a lot of ships that were already on fire.

RNG dumps can be annoying. Yesterday, I was chasing an Atago, the last ship alive on the enemy team, in my Moskva; by the time I killed him (thankfully he thought it was a good idea to show broadside at the end of our engagement), he hit me 20 times with HE and set 3 fires, while I hit him 25 times with HE and I didn't get a single fire.

Ah well I used forumla that to run the maths; Even if who I was shooting at had all the fire prevention skills and mods to his ship I would still have had a 5% chance of fire per hit.

1 in 98 hits is still closer to 1% and a poor as hell showing :(

Well I didn't, I shot a not on fire Bismarck almost the entire game. Aiming for the superstructure. What you believe I could care less about but maybe you should go somewhere else if you are going to question people's honesty.

If I am lying I am a troll and you've already waltzed into my cave. Either way dumb move isn't it?

Yah, every so often you'll get battles with horrible fire RNG, but thankfully it works both ways and you will also get the occasional battle where absolutely every thing goes your way.

RNG is overdone.  But there are flags that will increase it up some.  Captain skill DE (3 points) will increase it some.

The probability of getting 0 or 1 fires on 98 hits (each hit having a 5% chance) is approximately 4%.

It's not like exaggerating isn't human nature as proven over thousands of years, right?
