For want of a good citadel

Now that I need to get 10 citadels, I can't seem to hit a single one in 15 battles.  Any pointers for hitting citadels to help me and others looking to get a nice UK BB.

The lower tier RN CLs are really weak, I've citadeled angled Danae's with 203mm HE before.

Go play COOP in a Tier 4 BB, and farm all the sweet Bot Cruiser Citadels.

Took me 3 matches and 20 minutes or so.

Konigsberg in Co-Op got me 8 in one battle, then 9 in the next that wasn't tier VII BB heavy.

Yup Co-op, but be aware funny things still happen.

When you need to hit BBs, there will be little to no BBs for a few games. When you have some, they'll spawn on the other side of the map.

Just little things like that.

Much thanks to the forum gods.  They allowed me to citadel 3 times in my next two battles.

Use Cruisers, not BBs. BBs have long reloads, and tend to delete their targets with Citadels.

Cruisers fast reloads, and Cits are just nice hits, you can farm them on Broadsiders.

I just took the New Mex and Texas out and just looked for new or fairly new cruiser captains sailing broadside not paying attention and did it that way.

Interestingly, I wasn't getting broadsider bots in co-op.   Literally the moment they were focused, they turned bow in.    Sure, I got of lot of bow-in lead practice.    And they were shooting other targets.   Rarely did I catch a broadside ship.   I even tried the quick-focus-fire, and they had bot-spidey-senses that would turn their boats bow on as soon as they were focused.

 

And the torp the BB challenge?    One friggin BB.   So, speedy direct to the BB.    After a couple of matches, I went random to get a heavy BB meta.   That happened quickly in Random.

Phoenix.. T4  load AP in Co-Op mode..  find the other Phoenix  and citadel it with AP..  do same to any other cruiser you see except perhaps a svetlana..  did mine that way in 1 battle for 10 cits..  4 of the Omaha,  3 of a British CL  and then another 3 on another Omaha.

In fact.. the easiest tier to do the whole 5 missions are T4 in Co-op...  torps.. V-170  fires..  Phoenix   cits Phoenix...  damage missions  V-170  final mission 100k damage and 2 kills..  V-170.   Did mine all in one ruin yesterday evening  about 12 games to complete  around 2 hours flat. 

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.\

My son's highest tier is T4 and he did the same today..  his biggest problem was the 100k match at the end, but he persevered and got it eventually.

Indeed. When I needed the citadels, i got a match with lots of german BBs 

When I needed to hit BBs, I got cruiser heavy matches.

Hindenburg is farming them. Many broadside cruisers lately.

All good ideas...the only other way I could think of is using an Atlanta...if you set it up right, you could get all those in one game...if you lived long enough, LOL.

Got 14 citadels on a Pensacola one fine match. Inside of 2 broadsides.

I used Indianapolis in Co-Op and was lucky to have Brit and Roo-Shin CLs for most of the targets. It took 2 battles.

I just took my Gk and farmed cits on the T10's

You could play a Tier IV-V DD and use your rapid fire and citadel-the-ever-living-s**t out of those RN CLs all day, all night, 'errday of the week.  RU DD 130mm HE shells will citadel those POS low tier RN CLs at long range.

 

There is absolutely nothing those low tier RN CLs can do.

 

They can't run.

They can't hide.

Their torps are too short ranged to harm your RU DD.

Their guns are so s--t, they may as well stand on the edge of the deck and try to urinate.  They got a better chance hitting you that way than they do with their POS guns.
