Commander Boost ?

There is a type of battle that you can play called The Commander Boost where you have to win and sink a ship.....What is supposed to happen when this is done ? I first thought one got a point towards your commanderr of that ship...But that doesnt seem to be the case.

So on any battle that that mission is applicable for, if you win and sink a ship, you get an xp boost for that battle towards your commander. So you get 125% of the commander xp you would have gotten normally

In the Credirs and XP screen of the after battle report you will notice that the Commander XP has a percentage addition, such as 25%, if you complete the mission requirements.  This goes towards increasing the skill level of the commander.

The boost is just an extra incentive for playing this weekend. You can boost your commander's skill points and level with elite or free experience if that's what you wanted.
