Dude, your not reading my post. My point was not about the amount of people at Rank 1, I know that there is far less than last season and aknowledged that. My point was that Wargaming bases it's opinions on the number of people playing at all which has not changed. As far as Wargaming is concerned there is no issue with Ranked. So before you insult me look at what I'm saying.

If that is what WG looks at then they ought to be taking a close look at ranked soon.  The numbers they posted may be second highest in total participating player accounts but are in the bottom half for total battles played, average number of battles played, and average rank achieved before quitting.  So it isn't just fewer people ranking out, it is more people playing a single game of ranked and stopping, more people playing a few and quitting, more people in general staying away.

All this despite the lowest entry bar to-date.

I agree with you that Wargaming as of late has been to narrow minded and not looked at the big picture (look at Clans and the lack of nay info on the CV rework). however unless everyone on all the servers says next season 'we're not playing this util it's fixed" and people can think of a way to make it fun and competitive (I have no ideas personally, to me the two are mutually exclusive concepts, but I'm probably wrong) Wargaming will not fix it.

Dunno, the entire setup of ranked is designed around maximizing the number of games each player plays.  In fact something along 200-300 games to reach rank 1 for an average player starting at rank 23.  If the number of average games played keeps dropping, that likely will trigger some sort of action.  Heck the last two seasons rank 5-2 games took ridiculously long to get into due to the low population.  Clearly simply dangling another carrot like the Black or the Flint isn't going to suddenly fix the issue.

Once again.. i hit Rank 1.. and once again.. I have lost all motivation to play the game.

It's becoming a constant cycle among my friends and clanmates.  People push the grind for Rank and then burn out for awhile because it's just not a fun experience for most people.  For those of us who have already lost interest in Ranked, we have fewer friends to division with in Randoms both while they're grinding and after they've finished and are taking a break from the game.  So, basically, it's the complete opposite of a strong community-building game feature.

Also I think we should consider the advice that is frequently given out about ranked: when you start yo-yoing between ranks, you have hit your current skill level.  When I started bouncing between 10 and almost 9, that told me I had hit my current skill level.  Last year it was rank 10 and was determined to finish higher this year (originally aimed for at least 5.)  when I managed to push through to 9, I stopped.

You could call that preserving my sanity and, in a way it was - I knew from past results that I was battling above my skill level; but that wasn't the main reason.  I could power through, but with limited play time I wanted to grind elite commander XP on the Anthony and Cyclone Captains.  I also had already learned the sills I need to improve before the next ranked season.

I enjoy and appreciate ranked for what I think it is: a competitive environment with small teams of strangers that asks me if I am that guy that has enough skilsl to help carry the team to victory?  Right now, the answer is still no.  After Season 6, I came out with skills that drastically improved my game, this season has highlighted more stuff to work on.  Outside of possibly adding more irrevocable ranks near the top and more lucrative rewards, Ranked is still attractive to me and I intend to continue participating.

That is not entirely true though, being that the MM teams are random, you need a large enough sample size (a few hundred games) to know if the yo-yo is you or dumb luck.  The thing is human beings as a whole are not good at dealing with the frustration of the yo-yo for hundreds fo games to find out...

I agree it is a loose connection, but it is repeatable to an extent and there seems to be a relationship between Random stats and WR/success at the higher ranks.  There is also the "feels" component.  I can tell when I get to a rank or Random high tier battle situation and feel "helpless" to affect the game or my survival.  I usually can figure out the errors in decision making afterwards; at certain situations/tiers/ranks, though, I notice that I keep getting crushed.  In Random, I have been able to improve my skills to the point of beginning to contribute materially (somewhat) in a tier 9 or 10 game.  As I move up in Ranked, though, I hit a point of my errors being anticipated and quickly punished, regardless of my moves.  I finally made it to rank 9 in Season 7 because I was with teams that were skilled/supportive enough to both allow me to contribute and compensate for my errors; my stopping point THIS time.  Next season I will bring more to the table, maybe enough to be able to participate in the 1-5 merry-go-round while feeling as if I am contributing equally and not just hoping for a fortunate string of being carried..

And, why play with a yo-yo when there were two free time-limited 19-point captains to help grind elite XP :cap_yes:

Personally i enjoyed this season...on the other hand I enjoy T6 a bit too much.

I guess i enjoyed it so much because it was the first ranked season i managed to sink time into (last season was hot trash with the Payfast epidemic and the season before it i didn't have a T8 ship yet so couldn't advance past 15). But i will say that i saw so much bad play it was ridiculous.

People not using camo and signals.

Stock ships.

People going yolo in ships incapable of it.

BBs refusing to move.

DDs refusing to support the team (i heard "you need to earn my smoke" too many times to be healthy)

And to finish off, it's clear what the rank chart that WG put up says...people are getting burned way faster when it comes to ranked. Sadly rewards this season where also pretty [edited] to be honest.

This was by far the worst ranked season yet, pure cancer.

T6 ranked should be banished from the minds of the developers.

T8 ranked minimum.

Whenever WG goes on a gusher about how awesome T6 ranked is, this is why I get angry.  There are 12 T6 cruisers; barely 1/3 of them are viable to be in combat outside of smoke/island cover (Graf Spee, De Grasse, La Gal, Budyonny).  The rest are battleship fodder in a mode that no longer has caps on the quantity of battleships in a game as it once did.

You want dynamic gameplay?  You encourage cruisers.  You want boring, static, smoke-filled crap?   Enjoy your 3 BB, 4 DD game.

The cure for static gameplay already exists in the game; WG needs only find a way to drive people to it.

this.

Why do you say this?  I personally thought this was the best and least painful ranked season so far.  Most ships (within their class) were about on equal footing in terms of viability.  I ranked out in about half the matches it took me to last season.  The problem with higher tiers is having more ships with radar than the other team (or the other team having none at all).  Radar imbalance in T7 and T8 seasons was what would drive my salt level up.  What about T6 did you think was so bad?
