Terrible losing streaks!

I just wanted to vent about losing streaks. I get terrible losing streaks 10-15 lost games in a row couple times a week. I know that someone will respond in a second with smart [edited]remark about me sucking or being terrible but even if i was the WORST player in the game that should not be possible. MM should prevent being dumped in losing teams all the time. Even the worst player cannot singlehandadly lose the game for everyone, not even close. So whats going on? I have noticed this trend in last 6 months or so. It wasnt like that before. I dont even know if anything can be done about that. I just wanted to know if im the only one to experience such bad luck. It makes me play less and less every week. It's just not fun to lose all the time. Oh, btw this happens in Random Battles. Ranked is more or less 50/50.

Losing streaks happen, one thing you can do is do your part and not give up on a match.  I've seen some crazy comebacks, like this.

 

There are a few other things you can do:

- Strive to improve your play and make sure your contribution is solid and not be a potato.  If you still lose, at least a good performance still lets you walk away with more.

- Division up, especially with other good players, and more importantly, use voice communication to more quickly coordinate actions.

- Take a break.  When the losing streak gets long, it can get LONG.

 It happens to a lot of people, myself included. The key to change this is to get good enough to influence the match so you can be a deciding factor into your team winning the match more often than not rather than a liability. Looking at your matches yesterday I can see that you have played too many different ships to be able to reliably focus and improve on any of the ships/lines/classes that you own, Your survivability is also very low, try working on that.

Hi. We all go through losing streak (my latest was nine in a row during ranked - that hurt). Currently, I am going through a bit of a winning streak so I want to run with it as long as I keep defying gravity.  However there are a range of strategies I employ to help break losing streaks: 

• dont play jilted. If you're on a losing streak, walk away and do something else for a bit. It is surprisingly effective. 
• Play a ship you enjoy and/or are good at. This helps you get back in the right frame of mind, and maintains fun, even if you lose. There is a reason I have 300 battles in my Leanser!
• think about what was consistent about your losses. What ship type were you in, what was your job, how well did you do your job, what could you have done better, did you live to the end of the match to help carry the battle at the crucial moment, did you work with the dynamic of the team or against it?  This is the hardest to answer and takes critical reflection. Eg, if you were a torp boat dd, did you effectively contest caps early that had cruiser/bb support, survive the initial exchange, go and spot for your team with opportunistic Torps mid-battle, then prey on lonely bbs late battle to carry the team to win? Or a cruiser that followed the teams main body, punishing enemy DDs for being spotted without presenting easy shots to enemy battleships. Or being a be dealing massive damage to enemy ships, initially targeting DDs, pushing the enemy into a bad position, with the right amount of aggression and conserving health? Did I run off and hold a flank on my own, or did I take reckless risks? What was my situational awareness like? This takes experience to help assess well, but there are plenty of YouTube videos out there that can help. 
• Blaming MM and or seeing it as pure chance means you're doing it wrong. Overall, win rates are not chance, because if you are asking the above questions and making the right decisions, wins will follow. Sure, the occasional streak can still happen, but it is not s 'fault'. Don't believe me? Go find LittleWhiteMouse's excellent post on MM and winning. 
• Play to have fun. Do stuff that is amusing or quirky to have laughs. I just drove my Tirpitz into a cluster of battleships and a dd. I died in the first 4 mins of the game, but killed two bbs and stuffed another doing over 100k damage. We lost, but it was still hilarious and fun, particularly watching them panic. This is a game.

Well tonight definitely felt like it was Saturday night.  So many camping bb's, camping dd's, people shooting at low health when they could just spot instead, etc....  When I am over 700xp several matches in a row and more than half of the team is below 500.... it just gets annoying.

I feel ya, it happens to us all. Lots of good suggestions from everyone above.

 

When I have bad streaks, I'll stop playing for a bit, then come back. I figure if I give it an hour, maybe all the scrubs will be off.

 

Try playing another ship/tier is helpful as well.

 

Keep in mind, school is starting back soon, so quality of Captains tend to improve.

Ive seen 30% win rates so it is possible to negatively impact a game so much you lose a lot.  

Not saying that its your fault because I haven't seen you play.  However everyone has already given out all the good advice.

Many players are locked out of WOWs now thanks to the update they did so battle quality has likely changed.

If I'm losing 3 straight games by either being top player, or somehow being deleted with ease, I drop into Co-OP to burn off the bonus.

Then, after a win there, Random gets better.  However, with a serious losing streak, I may lose a Co-Op match or two.  Is it me?  Maybe, but when I'm the only human on both sides, and the rest of my team is wiped out in 3 minutes...  Maybe not.

If you have a serious losing streak, just take a break.  Take your mind off the game, and come back relaxed.

I am now on the worst losing streak I have ever had in WOW.  Gotta be over 12+ by now.  WHY?  I dunno. I will only say this, I hate to diss teams cause I suck plenty, but o wow I have had some odd fearful teams past 3 days. Odd. And ya I have ranted in chat. O well.....happens. It turns around. Carry on.

Not only will you be having some good players missing in battles, but also server itself has been unstable and affecting gameplay as well.

TKS. For the first time ever playing this game my computer crashed in a close game today.  First time ever. Just all of a sudden the game ended and screen went blank. Odd. Had to reboot and all that.

If things start going south, I usually call it quits for the night. Sometimes it's just me not being at my best and failing to carry bad teams, sometimes MM decides to bless me with a potato sack and no matter how hard, I can't get a win. Then I come back the next night and win like crazy.

 

Two losses in a row is usually a sign to log out for me.

In your last 230 something games you've averaged 30k damage at an average tier of 7 and an insanely low survival rate of 22% while 75% of your matches are in the two highest hitpoint and damage dealing ship types (cruisers and battleships). If you cannot dig into your performance metrics and properly analyze the data and come to the conclusion that you are being too aggressive and/or otherwise not properly taking personal accountability for the health of your ship, then I suggest you start. 

 

Start recording how much time is left in the match when you die and if you are dying more than once every ten matches before ten minutes has expired, it will hopefully shed light on how much opportunity you have to improve your capacity to influence the match in your favor. 

 

Second, are you playing on a laptop or slow desktop or have anything but a rock solid inet speed, because at your average tier and ship types, you should be doing double the damage you're doing if you want to be a game influencer. And something either hardware-wise or player-wise is capping your production. If your computer and inet speeds are not a hindrance, then all you need to do is get trained on strategy and the finer game mechanics which you can do best by surrounding yourself with better players and mirroring them.

Whatever is happening, all your time thresholds show a similar performance.

 

So if you are having unaccustomed losing streaks, you're having winning streaks too, otherwise your WR would show an appreciable drop.

 

Your performance and results aren't changing appreciably, so whatever you're noticing, it's either relatively minor, and not really affecting you, or it's being balanced by good results that you aren't noticing.

Since the American cruiser rework, I'm 49% in Cleveland but 38% in Des Moines. This means I'm not playing DM correctly or I just am not good enough to play a tier X cruiser.

If I play DM and lose, and then Cleveland and lose I'm setting myself up for a 'losing streak'.

Statistically these things are bound to happen, kind of like you might get ten tails in a row if you flip a coin four thousand times.

MM doesn't balance players, it balances ships. That has been known for many years, and is unlikely to change. Should it be skill-based? I personally don't think so, for various reasons.

 

If you keep losing, just take a break from the game, as others have suggested above.

They should award same amount of xp and credits to top 3 players in losing team and rest get same amount as for now. That should motivate players to play to win battles and not sitting and waiting others to do the job for them.

Wish they could have shown the amount of damage your team did like in WOT, this will see the amount of bads you get in the team.

What is it with people necroing threads recently?  There's been about half a dozen in a week, whilst nothing for months.  

Please, if a thread is years old, can you not re-start it?

Damage isnt everything - and other, important tasks like capping and spotting are under-rewarded in the XP system.  So that might just induce poorly-directed rage towards players (particularly DDs) who were doing their job.  What does that achieve?

Then it will reflect XP earn due to spotting damage and caping besides unlike light yanks DDs can actually deal good damage thanks to torpedoes.
