Help! How to Play the Blyskawica

Hey guys, after a series of fruitless battles I am at a loss of how to play the Blyskawica. I bought her during winter break for the stealth firing, in which I did okay. And after focusing on bbs and IJN dds I came back to her this month. However, I am at a loss as to how to utilize her guns especially now that the stealth firing has been removed. So I ask the community of experts for help

Actually I dont know how to play her at all anymore. Whenever I come up against a dd, whether if I spot em first or not, I cant trade dmg. Hell, I have sailed angled against IJN broadside dds and received more dmg, my guns and my ship just dont turn quick enough to trade shots. Plus whenever I get hit multiple modules break, so the minute Im outa smoke, Im dead. I have never had the same experience in my IJN or USN lines.

Im just wondering if I need to change the playstyle of this ship to a more supporting position. Should I always be second in cap? or Not near cap at all, camping like 10 km back?

What should I do if I accidentally charged against (theoretically same-tier) dds? They all have more torps than me, and besides the USSR line, can turn and accelerate much faster.

Thanks,

Simplest advice I heard once was play it like a Russian DD with longer ranged torpedoes. Though I think it has two more guns than Gremy.

(edit) Just noticed; Holo ftw!

It's a monster anti-DD DD at Tier 7 that plays like a Russian DD. It's fast, lots of guns, stealth torp capable, great firestarter, completely underestimated ... :)

I could explain it, but I will just refer you to the professionals

Every other DD will think they can duel with you, that first full salvo that breaks their engine and sets them on fire, snaps them back to reality.

For BB and CL stay 10km away and stealth torp, HE firestarter spam and dodge incoming salvos for victory !

I'll try and help you with you Blyskawica, the Lighting before the storm.

I have 300+ battles in mine and she is one of my favorite destroyers. She a very good multi-role destroyer, she can stealth torp, she can gun fight at long range or close in, this adaptability and understanding your role in a match is key to doing well.

First her captain like a lot of other premium ships who don't have any fellow nation ships is kind of hard to deal with.

If you have a rookie captain it takes some work to get the skills needed to make the Blyska shine.

The Core captain skills I like are Preventive Maintenance, Last Stand, BFT for more gun and AA power or SuperIntendent for more consumables [hint run premium consumables for credits to bypass SI] or Survivalability Expert for more HP, and finally Concealment Expert. Next you need to get Adrenaline Rush or Expert Marksman but you need both to gun fight better.

This leaves 5 points and you could go IFHE to do more damage or AFT for longer range guns. I like AFT, yes I know open water stealth fire went away, but with AFT I can kite better while still keeping ships under a rain of HE. Final point into Priority Target because its the best skill for one point.

If you have a friendly destroyer with you than act as its support ship. If your solo moving onto cap be prepared to fight and run depending on what shows up. The Blyska is nimble and her guns are good for kitting away. If you're in a gun battle with another DD don't sail straight, keep your rudder moving away from them between neutral and 1/4, this messes up the enemies shot placement. Keep the small ships almost at the edge of your torp range and the big ships outside of your max detection range.

And Watch the mini map to predict ambush opportunities and protect yourself from ambush opportunities.

Agree; Blys is one of the most balanced DD's in the game, capable of engaging in any task asked of her.

I like it too; this is a ship built to fight German and Russian DD's; she has VERY usable guns, USE them!

Excellent advice, as Blys is hell-on-wheels when divisioned up with other DD's. (fought a 2 ship division, Blys and a Shinonome; very effective and dangerous)

Blys may be the best "all-around" DD in the game; she does everything well. She can hang in an uptier, fighting effectively against most tier 7 or 8 DD's. She can invisifire her guns and torps, her detection allows for her to be an excellent spotter, and she has the speed to disengage or rush to where she is needed.

To paraphrase a now famous Little White Mouse quote "GUDBOTE!!"

Really? The Blyskawica is great at longer ranges, but try knifefighting a Sims or Mahan and your going to be in for a world of hurt. The Blyskawica can put out damage, but it's like a fat cow in terms of maneuverability and turret rotation. That coupled with inferior reload times compared to the Sims or Mahan makes it ill suited for fighting at close range.

I imagine that any good DD player would not reveal themselves to the Blyskawica unless they were as close as possible. Blyskawica has an advantage at longer range due to her shell velocity, take that away by getting close to it and the Blyskawica will either die horribly or escape with barely any HP left.

She can't invisifire anymore, sadly. It's a damn shame, but life goes on. I retired my Blysk after 1000+ matches due to the OWSF nerf. I'm not bitter about it, I just prefer to remember her how she was.

That being said, my advice for taking on USN DDs, is to get them to chase you. The Blysk is faster, and more importantly, it has 4 guns in the rear vs 2 guns in the front of USN DDs. If you fire 3 torps to both sides of them, alot of times they will go broadside to try to get more guns on you, and run into them. Definitely keep them outside of 7km, or they will out DPM you.

The Blysk also has an excellent Alpha strike, so don't be afraid to take a shot at any DD or CA with under 3k HP left.

I do plan on bringing her out of retirement if WG decides to give  her a little love, since they really hurt her with the OWSF nerf. I would prob use her in  a T7 Ranked season too.

Good luck

My bad; I meant her gun range is further than her non-firing detection range. I know they nerfed the staying invisible after firing thing.

Yeah, she suffers from what can only be described as Russian/IJN turret disease; being almost stuck in one place and taking forever to rotate. Captains skills and upgrades can help with that a bit, but you are right; she will NEVER be American.

This is VERY good advice from someone who does VERY well in DD's.

I have used this tactic and those120's are awesome, very effective but, because of the rotation of her turrets, dangerous. (when it works its great)

It's a great ship, but with a unique playstyle.

As the others have said, run like a Russian DD, one thing that I do, I run torp acceleration, while I am trading stealth firing for having to be more aggressive, I am finding the better speed gets more consistent hits.  Too many time for tier 7 and up, unless I just caught them cold, slower torps with only a three torp spread per rack were too easy to avoid.  Am getting a better hit percentage and reminds me that is a gun boat, not a torp boat...
